Default Jag Rear End ?

Many of todays AC replicas, and as I remember. Some of the originals also used the Jag/Salsbury IRS, except with outboard break set ups. In talking with and old friend & CSX 3000 series owner. He mentioned that a friend had told him that the Dana-44 rear end gear would fit into a (3.8)/(4.2) Jag/Salbury IRS. Has anyone else had any experience or know of anyone who has used a standard Dana-44 ring gear set in a Jag IRS set up ? I had not heard of this before? Any info postive or negative would be helpful! Thanks!

I am doing it now. You need the Dana 44 carrier or you need to make spacers so you can put the Dana 3/8" bolts in the Jag posi. I just bought a Dana 19 spline posi. It was easier.

You also need to change the front bearing as the OD of the Dana pinion is smaller than the size of the Jag. Last, you need a coupler for the driveshaft for a 26 spline pinion. The Jag uses a 10 spline. Dana does not make these anymore, but Concours West has them for $95. If you want, you can use a yoke, but you might have to lengthen/shorten the driveshaft.

I believe Yukon makes gears for a Jag rear with the 7/16" ring gear bolts. I believe I saw them on Randy's Ring and Pinion web site. They were about $300.

What are you trying to do? Just change the gear ratio?

The first few Cobras did come with inboard disc brakes, then changed.(although I think CSX 2000 still has in board brakes, not sure) The Salisbury housing is a Dana 44. So all internal parts will swap. But like Joyridin said he should not have tried to match a Jag carrier with a Dana 44 ring gear and pinion, just go with a new 44 ring gear, pinion and carrier.
