Default Ceramic Coating

What has been the experience, for controlling heat, has anyone had with coating there headers and exhaust system with ceramic. Has anyone had dealings or experience with the following company?:

Jet-Hot Ceramic Coatings

Thanks, George

I just bought Hooker headers jet coated and it was a huge difference in heat...never had them coated, but I can definately tell a difference in the coating!

My headers and sidepipe are ceramic coated. I've had ceramic coated headers on other cars also and they do a whole lot in the engine bay for keeping heat out.

The sidepipes, withOUT heat shields, feel the same temp as the heat shields on sidepipes without ceramic coating.

And Jet Hot has been around for a while. (that's an understatement)

You might check out these guys. I've read lots of good comments on their work on the FFR forum and I'm getting ready to ship my header pipes, collector/headpipes and mufflers off to them. They coat both inside and outside. I would send my tailpipes to them (undercar exhaust) but I don't want to mess with trying to ship them oversize. They also do a satin black ceramic coating which is what I'm having done.

Thanks for your feedback I really appreciate it. One of the things that we ran into in sorting out this car is after a period of time of driving the car at highway speed the transmission would not go into any gear upon down shifting. However, after sitting for a while the transmission would start working correctly. Everyone believes it is caused by the hydraulic fluid boiling from the engine heat thereby keeping the clutch from working correctly.

I understand from the supplier of the exhaust system that it was supposed to be wrapped but to do so it would have had to be modified and rather than going to that trouble the installer just installed the headers and exhaust without a wrap. I’ve enclosed a couple of pictures for your reference as you can see the brake lines, and the hydraulic line run down to a cross member and from there into their respective areas, notice the shielding that is provided. The cross member is within about 3 inches of the header. Hopefully, with the ceramic coating and additional heat shielding we can eliminate this one issue. Again, thanks, George
