Default Front sway bar

Hello Club Cobra,
Well, the Cobra season is pretty much over, at least in Wisconsin. This was my first summer with the completed car, what a gas. I have asked in the past about front sway bars, some say "you dont need it". I really think I would like to install one. I have an older Midstates chassis, I have the links and bushings (supplied by Midstates), just need the bar. I dropped a note over to Shell Valley but didnt hear back. Does anyone know what bar the Midstates chassis used?? Any info would be great.

Thanks
Tony Loz

Hi Tony,

They used a Mustang II front sway bar. The originasl Midstates chassis had the crossmember, contol arm mounts narrowed. Not sure if yours is or not but you can get a bar in the salvage yard and measure the mounts. If they are narrowed you can pinch the bar down onm the ends to make it fit. Been there and done that on my Shell Valley.

Goodd luck,
Byron

Tony,
If you do not already have them, I would seriously consider tubular control arms from Speedway Motors as well as QA1 coil over shockes for what ever cross member you have.
Post or send some pics.
Later gator,
Byron

I used an early Mazda front sway bar, purchased the hangers and stuff on-line. The darn thing does the job and has been trouble free for serveral years.
Keep searching. Bill
