"1966 427 Cobra S/C." Yeah, right.
|
Nope, don't like it....

That one was inspired by H. G. Wells and straight from The Island of Doctor Moreau. See what happens when you mix DNA from a '63 vette, '66 cobra, '01 PT Cruiser and '04 Mazda RX-8? ... an identity crises abomination that hauls ass

Ug ug ug!!!!

Take one Superformance MkIII...

While not my cup of tea, as long as the owner likes it, that is what matters.
|
I'm just curious what replica he destroyed to make that version of a roadster?

Consider these comments as an attempt at an explanation, but not a justification for this car.
I found the photos by accident on a site attributed to Jason Phillips Design. Google revealed that to be a business specializing in high end, unconventionally designed furniture. He comes across to me as an artist in the industrial design field. My experience with artists is that it isn't art unless it is new in some important way. For example, recreating the Mona Lisa is more about skill and craft than about art. Doing something that was never done before poses significant challenges. One of them is that many of the things that were never done before were not done because other artists considered them and then decided against it, usually because they could see that it would turn out badly. That means many true artists produce works that do not appeal to the general public. Occasionally an artist will produce a work that is truly original and has strong public appeal, but that is the exception rather than the rule. My sense is that the person who designed the SWC was more interested in doing something unique than in doing something that appealed to traditional car guys. Unfortunately, he ended up with a car that only its mother could love. |
Well at least he didn't waste a KMP or ERA.......;)

Looks actually pretty cool from the front, the view from the rear is not my cup of tea

Just another example of Yankee Ingenuity however different it might seem and what makes a kit car so enjoyable to own.
Have to add my .02 there was only one Split Window that I relate to. Watched a recent episode of "Search and Restore" They customized a 51 Hudson Hornet amazingly the car turned out incredible gotta love creativity. |

With all the cookie-cutter replica Cobras out here, hats off to the guy for his ingenuity and customization skills to come up with something different to look at.
Depending on where you live and how many other Cobras are around you, sometimes a one-off creation is fun to see sitting there in a line of thirty other Cobras that all pretty much look the same like different color M&M candies. Its easy to see its an SPF looking closely. The exhaust is sitting up off the ground, the front fender flares bulge out and completely wrap the tire, rear flares don't wrap much. The shape of the car is a dead giveaway of signature SPF shape. Who knows, he might have taken a wrecked SPF and come up with a new creation. Very creative actually. A new kind of M&M  |
