Default Historians-Sunburst origin?

I've seen it postulated that although the aluminum Sunburst was designed by Brock, for Kelsey Hayes, that Halibrand in fact cast (some of) them for KH.
Something about production difficulties causing them to sub the wheel casting to Halibrand. Possibly on part of the total run. And Halibrand cast their name into those wheels.
Fact or fiction?

Never seen Halibrand on a Sunburst. I believe they were KH and cast from aluminum which is another common mistake on them.

A way to save money along with 428 engines on later Cobras per Ed Leslie. He said he thought the Ford Beanies were behind the changes to try and make the car profitable.

Is it possible they were cast by Buddy Bar, who did the pans and valve covers and some accessories for Shelby previously? I also think they were used by PSE Wheels.

Meaning Schmidt had done some Sunbursts??
I never heard that Buddy Bar ever did wheels. I just think it highly improbable that a company (KH) would allow a competitor (Hali) to have their name on a product.

No not at all. I did not mean to imply that PSE did Sunbursts. I think PSE used Buddy Bar.

Reports from the day said Shelby was having difficulty getting enough Halibrand wheels to supply the 427 cars, due to production delays, etc. And the Halibrands were sufficiently expensive that, like Bruce mentioned earlier, Shelby figured their own wheels would cost less in the long run. It is my belief that Kelsey Hays manufactured all of the sunbursts, and I have never heard of Halibrand making additional copies. Reproductions have more recently been made by several different people.
