That is a neat story. I would think that finding CSX2238 in Germany would not be beyond the realm of possibility. The Cobra community of original owners would be fairly small I would think. There are members of this site who reside there. Maybe they have some info that could help.

In my opinion in that link the three photos are three different cars. Just look at the roll bar in the first and second picture.

Anyhow, emotional story - yeah right. She never saw the car. May if she would be born in that car, kinda different story - but like that?

Now comes the other side, how about some respect to the current owner. If I would own this car for over 20 years and be private (no club affiliation), I would not like to be chased down by someone who I don't know.

The former owner let this car go because
Quote:
“It just wasn’t practical to keep the car anymore, and he sold it for only a few thousand dollars.”
If you love something soooooo much - then you find a way to keep it.
Period.

I don't think her emotion has anything to do with the car itself and I think you're wrong.
Her emotion is for her father. So she would like to find it today and possibly get a photo of it if it's current owner would agree. What's wrong with that?

Because privacy trumps some need to, Quote:

“I will continue Googling the car in the hopes that I will one day find it. If I could just sit in the car, and feel what my dad felt when he bought it, that would be enough,” Mary Ann says.

As I said, respect is the word Larry.

If the owner like to be found and like to show of his car - he would be easy found.
Germans think a little different about matters like that. You can take my word on that, because I'm one of them...

Over the years I have found that almost ALL current owners of old Cobras - even the ones in Germany - are thrilled to hear from former owners, and even their offspring. It provides an otherwise impossible opportunity to ask questions about the cars back in their earlier days. And a lot of independent comp car owners have questions, because their race records are often unrecorded.

Well, Germans are not known as unfriendly - stubborn, arrogant, combative and smart yes, but not unfriendly.

That's 'cause you're carrying the whole European Union on your backs. But, I think most Cobra owners (real or faux) would accommodate her. I know I would.

G-Pete,

Glad you worked "smart" in there... I'm half German and half Swiss, so I'm not sure how I should act

Regards,

Kevin

Actually, first I'm an American. My blood is Scot and a little Swedish.
I know just about zero as far as imagration to the states except that it happened long before we were "states"! My dad is working on our family tree now.
You do know what "Alba Gu Brath" translates into, right?

Kevin, a little hint - 20x more people with the same of my last name living in Switzerland rather than in Germany. I grew up 60 miles from the Swiss border and 5 miles from the French.
I can tell you the Swiss guys are a tick smarter but also a tick more "uptight". They keep their collections locked up. Very little antique auto shows in Swizzyland.

Auf wiederluage.
