Default V-band clamps

Hi all,
i`am interested in knowing what the thoughts are on fitting V-Band Clamps on merge collector to side pipe mufflers are and if there are advantages, also what the thoughts are on how they look.
I have been fabricating my own headers in stainless steel and side pipe system on my Southern Roadcraft Cobra here in the UK, i have previously purchased a set of Classic Chambered mufflers with 3in internal pipe 24in length but i `am unsure about directly welding my merge collectors to the inlet. I have looked at the V-Band Clamps as an alternative to directly welding together, but was concerned if they look smooth and neat, and exhaust gas leakage, also would they be a rigid fit so not to flex, so i`am interested in any ones opinion on fitting them,
regards,
Gary.

i use them on one of the jbl's. they are strong, made of stainless. i have no regrets. if you want to change the collector out for another it is easy, just have to have the male or female connector portion welded on, whichever is appropriate. my collectors sit on a craddle with 2 springs holding them in.

I use them they are a good strong way of attaching the side pipe, not prone to leaking. I am a bit of a stickler for original looks but see this as an improvement.

Thanks for the replies,
i think i will be going with the V-Bands, and like you say it makes the muffler section -interchangeable so as in my case my classic chambered pipes are un-cladded, so could always purchase a set that are in case the others are to loud,
regards,
Gary.
