First , let me say that the 2013+ GT-500 is one of the most spectacular cars I have ever driven. Track car, drag car, cheap mods make it 800 HP, spectacular brakes, fit, finish, ride, comfort, technology, looks, sound..Eleven flat in the quarter or 190 MPH or getting 22 MPG at 70 on the freeway....it is unbelievable at the price....I drive the balls off both the Cobra and the GT-500(s) and the performance of the 2 cars is similar in some ways (strait line) but different in every other. The Mustang is 1000% safer as well.
You can always get another SPF. The 2014 GT-500 will be the last of the retro styled mustangs and the blown 5.8 engine.
Don't think twice about the Mustang-you will not be disappointed.
my 2 cents.

I dunno. I have a GT500 and an SPF and I like them both. They are completely different cars, but to me driving the GT500 is no where near the fun and excitement of driving the SPF. If safety were priority #1, then I might suggest neither car would be on too many shopping lists.
If I were looking to purchase either one down the road as a used vehicle, it should be much easier to buy a GT500 than an SPF. There are ~3,000 MKIII's in existence and by the end of the GT500 run there will have been ~60,000 produced?
Likely much cheaper to buy the GT500 as well since they tend to drop in value just like any other used car. On the other hand, it seems as though SPF values have actually gone up since roller prices increased a couple years ago.
