Reminds me of the old song about the guy who's wife lets him have a mistress, then she runs off with the mistress.

I agree with your decision. I want a 2013 GT500 along with my SPF so I'm going to wait for a nice barely use one in a few years for half the price. There are so many out there you will be able to pick your color.

Wise a$$.

To the OP:

I love the GT500. Huge power and great performance in comfort. However, I agree that in 10 years, no even a few years it will be last years model except there is a school of thought that it will be the last of the big V8s for the Stang, but then again there are just too many of them. At least 7000 built per year.

If you want a truly special Mustang for less money right now IMHO the Mustang to buy is a GT500KR. Last of the pre-title Shelbys built at SAI. You will have one of 1600 made. Period and damn near the performance of the '14. It was ahead of it's time performance wise and the bench mark for the '10 - '12 GT500s. If you can find a Red or Blue KR you will have 1 of 200 made. The KR is a special Stang and considered one of the nicest looking Stangs ever made. I love mine. IMHO it will appreciate in value and increase in desirability. They once sold for over $100K at nearly $25K over sticker.

Between, the standard GT500 and the SPF. I'm biased.
Point is the Cobra is more of Special occasion car and will always make you smile as much today as it will years from now and isn't that the end game?

If it is a toy, keep the Cobra. It won't depreciate much, it is much fast, it is a ton more fun to drive, it attracts more attention than a dead body in a parking lot, it is the epitome of a muscle car and they are drop dead beautiful.

GT500 is just a modern Mustang and is forgotten in the crowd of cars that are sold today.

This is the 3rd vehicle/toy.

I apprecaite the feedback

Daryl,

You made the right decision to keep your Superformance! You can always strap the kids in for a ride one at a time so they get the car bug early. BTW - I'm surprised that your tires even lasted 6K miles.

I think that was the wrong conclusion based on the selection you picked. The comment about jamming the kids in was about the GT500.

There will be a time for each of us when the Cobra is just not the right car for us. I will love and enjoy mine for as long as I have it.

Congrats on your decision, dlang! As far as toys go, the Cobra (to me) is all toy and no luxuries, which makes it that much more fun.

Thanks again for all the responses.

I should probably post this in the tires section, but HOLY *$%^!!!!!

I went from old and hard (but perfect tread) Yokos to a new set of Avons. What an amazingly different car to drive. I cannot express what a dramatic improvement this is. If you need tires, heck if you dont need tires but you're living with what you've got spend the money. its worth it.

Simply wow.

I own an SPF and an '07 GT500. Both are beautiful cars. Realistically, they are both 2 seaters and, at least to me, neither one is a daily driver. I too wish to take the family out on cruises. My solution is to sell the GT500 and buy a '30s vintage Ford 4-door sedan street rod.

Well its a good thing the haberdasher is only 5 miles away and you never go over 40. But your loved one should refuse to ride to the Oyster Bar on those petrified Yokes.

I can't believe YOU'RE gonna cheap out and not buy Avons.
You, who buys cams for guys that don't use 'em...

Uhh, I got every cent's worth of enjoyment from that cam buy. OK, I'll go with the Avons, if it makes you feel better.

Great-just don't make 8000 more threads about their mounting, care and feeding-and NO gratuitous dog / hand shots.

What happened to this blog....just sell the GT-500, it's very cool but will be worthless in a few years (unless you get lucky). Find yourself a good 1969 Mach 1 with a 428 FE in it and you will save your money.
One thing the Cobra stays...the wife and kids may go, along with the dog and cat..but the Cobra is blood.

One of my Rotary friends had a Cadillac CTS-V but he traded it for Jeep SRT-8 and he has an AWD vehicle that is lots of fun and will go 162 MPH on Nurburgring (spelling) in rain if you saw YouTube video.

He said it most fun for daily driver in a long time. Lots more fun than CTS-V according to him.

I have a stock Cobra 427 S/C and 2 2013 GT-500's. Yep ...2....After my wife drove mine she had to have one......different subject...

First , let me say that the 2013+ GT-500 is one of the most spectacular cars I have ever driven. Track car, drag car, cheap mods make it 800 HP, spectacular brakes, fit, finish, ride, comfort, technology, looks, sound..Eleven flat in the quarter or 190 MPH or getting 22 MPG at 70 on the freeway....it is unbelievable at the price....I drive the balls off both the Cobra and the GT-500(s) and the performance of the 2 cars is similar in some ways (strait line) but different in every other. The Mustang is 1000% safer as well.

You can always get another SPF. The 2014 GT-500 will be the last of the retro styled mustangs and the blown 5.8 engine.

Don't think twice about the Mustang-you will not be disappointed.

my 2 cents.
