Someone still needs to explain to me why these things sell for big money. A never was "Shelby" (that is not really attractive) from a crappy movie that people pay BIG money for?!?!? These are down from the 250K that was paid a few years ago, but really, they are just restomod Mustangs. I might understand one of the actual movie cars for the guys who get off on that thing, but if I screw one together in my garage, why would you pay big bucks for it?

As was said, no one ever went broke understimating bad taste....................

I wish these and all 'Shelby' version Mustangs past 1966 were Gone In Less Than 60 Seconds....

I like the movie and I like Eleanors. Alot of people must like the movie, because the movie keeps getting played all the time on cable.

So, speaking for the folks with bad taste, both in cars and movies, I also can't understand why people pay huge sums for these restomod Mustangs. You can buy real original Shelby Mustangs for the amount of money some folks pay for Eleanors. Notwithstanding, I'd have an Eleanor in my vast collection, if I had the money and garage space.

This is the real Eleanor, if you ask me.

Ah, come on Chas.

Didn't the scene where Memphis Raines (Cage) hits the GO-BABY-GO button and, then after losing him in the same LA River Aqueduct where the famous scene from Gumball Rally was filmed, the helicopter pilot says "He's gone" and the younger police detective in the BMW chasing him says "Man, he can drive", send chills down your spine? I love that scene.

I'm with Rodknock on Eleanor the car and the movie.

As for the early Shelby mustangs, I like them in this order:

'65 GT350
'66 GT350
'67 GT500 (much prefer the body lines and interior over the '68)
'68 GT500 (prefer the motor over the '67)
(R models and KR models preferred.)

I wouldn't want any 60's Shelby model after '68. I think they look like bloated pigs.

Or how about the very funny scene where Donnie tells the driver's ed student that she cannot drive.

And then there's the scene at the end of the movie, where the big tough car thief that doesn't talk throughout the film, Sphinx, speaks in a noble British accent and then Cage says "Hey, man. I thought you were from Long Beach."

Why Rodknock---are you having a 'Patrick' moment??
Four posts on this juvenile tripe???
I thought you were a solid cool citizen after a 540 mid-year Vette.
It's apparent you haven't seen one of these restomod Shelby cash-grabbers up close.
I know a guy with too much dough, a vast but trashy car collection and poor taste who bought one at premium, brand new.
The Shelby-blocked motor came complete with leaks and an A/F ratio lower than the owners IQ. The charcoal metallic was probably applied in Chernobyl but everywhere you looked, there were Shelby logos and plaques.
It took a very talented Cobra assembler to sort the motor to make it driveable...
Nobody was impressed.

"Juvenile tripe" is my middle name, just ask the people who know me.

I wouldn't condemn every Eleanor clone ever made, just because of one bad apple. I just wanted to defend an actually well-built clone, not the junk that is out there, even though you and others would accuse me of poor taste.

And I wouldn't condemn the film either. Certainly not an Oscar-winning Forrest Gump type effort, but it's entertaining.

However, comparing me to Patrick is just plain insulting.

I'll tell ya who needs an intervention.

I'd rather have an original KR.

Cable also plays "Honey BOO BOO" and "Real Housewives" a lot. Case closed.
