Battery fuse..Cable protection?

Running battery cables from trunk mounted battery thru cutoff switch, forward to starter solenoid. How many of you also run a fuse at the battery and if so what type?

That's the same setup that I use and no fuse in the primary cable. Going on 9 years and haven't fried anything yet. Given the amount of current it carries a fuse would have to be pretty big (a couple of hundred amps).
Do use a fuseable link off the starter solenoid as a precaution but that should do it.

I wouldn't (and don't) use a fuse. But my battery is on top of the passenger foot box, with a very short run to the cut off switch. If you're worried about it, connect it directly to a high amperage automatic circuit breaker.

Well after 2 days, 135 views and only 2 reply’s There doesn’t seem to be any cars or owners that have a fuse, or feel the need for one on the rear mounted battery cables. I guess the battery cutoff switch will be it…Thanks DonC and Bob for your advice.

Just make sure that any areas where the cable might rub are sleeved with something to protect the cable and clamp it down. I've got clamps screwed into the frame rails about every 24" along the cable run.
