Registering my Cobra
I have a question for anyone in California. How is your Cobra registered? Does the reg say: 1967 Cobra or Shelby Cobra. My Dept of Motor Veh here in town says it can only be registered as a special construction car, IE: my reg says its a "0000 SpcCsrt". Anybody have anything different? I'm thinking my DMV is full of it.
thanks
Greg

Greg,
The only legal way to register a special construction vehicle in California is under SB100. The DMV is correct in saying that it is a 0000 special construction vehicle. Do a search on SB100 here and on the DMV site to get all of the facts.
I just pulled out my registration card:
Date first sold: 00/00/0000
Make: SPCNS
Year: 2006 (year I registered the car)
Make: SPCNS

BTW - Here's an old post where Steve Wood documented the SB100 process. There hasn't been any significant changes to the process.

Greg,
You can only register a car in Ca for what it is. You can't register it as a 1966-7 or what ever unless it is one. Also the CR has an SB100 on it already. I gave you all of the paperwork but I am not sure if that even helps you. It has everything required on it to pass the SB100 again if needed. I.E. a closed PCV system.

If the car already had an SB100, this is a walk in the park. Pay your fees and move on.

Reg Question
Ok guys, thanks for the info. I haven't gotten it registered, I just thought you could register it as a Cobra. I'll just have to live with the 0000spccst
Thanks to all and Terry, yes you did give everything and there was no problem with the transfer other than I was apparently incorrect in my thinking. By the way, I love the car. Thanks for everything

Glad you like it Greg. Too bad California has to be so darn picky.
