I spent hours reading through Carroll Smith's book. Great reading, but a bit dated (of course).

Second on the Carol Smith books. You just have to ignore when he says only use X brand shocks and such. I buy books as references, and that sort of instruction is not reference. It belongs in magazines, not books.
