What was the outcome of the two losers in this incident? Were they both arrested/detained?

Another tip. Even at the best of shows with the nicest crowds I DO NOT open my hood. Thats a sure fire invitation for people to lean over and look in even when they haven't the slightest notion of what they are looking at and leaving you with that paint divot on your fender. I only open the hood for those that ask to see the engine and I am right there and close it when they are done. QUOTE]
Good tip - leave the hood closed.

Let me guess... they were mid to late 50's, balding with a pot belly. They both wore T-shirts from the last car show they went to. Both had ball caps on to cover the balding. Possibly a moustache. Each has a late model Corvette they ordered from the local Chevy dealer. They were on about their fourth or fifth beer... with the little foam insulator with a Corvette emblem!
Am I right?

Sad isn't it when you can't even take your car to a show and enjoy it. Also I think all dam bicycles and skateboards should be kept out of the area where the cars are parked. A few years ago a friend and I took ours to a small show up North of here and a fool on a bicycle rode up and put his foot on top of the door to look in the car. Of course when he removed it a piece of paint about the size of a half dollar came with it. The friend asked me if I had brought my gun and I had but no way was I going to let him have it. The best one I have been to was a few years ago in Mt. Shasta. They blocked off the downtown, no bicycles or skateboards, and we parked right in front of the police station. They confiscated any bicycle or skateboard that came inside the barriers and escorted severai out of the area that were getting into the cars or sitting on them. I like to look at them up close too, but I will try to find the owner and ask them to open the door or hood for me as I would never touch another person's car without their being there. I think that along with the economy is why we have so few car shows around here any more. We used to have them every weekend somewhere and now they only have a few all year.
Evan, I agree with you and Jamo completely about the morons and how you handled your situations.

See, that is the "car guys" creed. He might shag your wife, but he would NEVER mess with your car!

See there's the problem. These guys were obviously not car guys because they were fighting over a girlfriend.

Just proves the old wise tale- You shouldn't be at a car show if you don't know how to fight.

One of the reasons why we stopping entering our vehicles in shows around us.The biggest was the traffic and so many in too much of a hurry.

If you have an aluminium body, you should be able to connect a electric cow fence wire to it, and zap the basterds with 30.000 volts when they touch it.

What is even worse...you have to pay $25 to $45 to register your car! Then they let anybody, drunk, with skateboards, dogs, bikes and strollers in for free.
I had a guy lift my hood while I was sitting next to it. I got up and lowered my hood. I explained nicely to him not to touch cars without owners permission. Of course he had an attitude. I hope the next car he touches the person knocks him on his a$$.
I haven't been back to these type of car shows. Political, unorganized car club fundraisers.

If I see someone coming with a dog I get between them and my car. I also watch the crowd and read their mood as best as I can and will leave if I think its getting out of control, beer is a bad sign. I know at most shows I will have to stay by car but you know this going in. Just returned from Fontana and the show was almost all car guys, no problem at all to leave your car and look at rest of cars which was great. If my wife comes along it helps as we can take turns watching car. My experience has been different as to hood up or down. You worry about buckles, bags and kids with the hood up but with the hood down people want to lean against, sit on, put foot on quick jack, hang on to roll bar and so on to get picture. I keep going and I do have positive experiences along with bad. So far the good out weights the bad in my case.

And can you image how the guys with real original non-component 1960's era Cobras feel?
Take it easy, I'm just kidding around.

I am with Evan on his comments above. Pick your crowd and venue.
Hey, I love kids and will go out of my way to get the family a nice pic and even will help the kid in the car, but as I said ASK ME. Don't just grab your kid (with an ice cream in his hand) and lower him into the car. Yes, this happened.
I think we all understand that we have nice cars that folks want a pic of, but some folks just think they are at a day at the Carnival and that these cars are just attractions.
I just don't see myself as a "Carney"!

Not even Corvette owners. Both were mid to late 30s; one drove a mid 80s Camaro and the other a late model Mustang. Both were made to leave the show.
