Just installed a cockpit cooling system using off the shelf parts. Preformed inlet duct, High temp 3" dia. ( race ) ducting, Marine bilge fans in the front wheel wells, hose clamps and some 3" connector/unions.............On the last 500 mile run through the center of Ca we had air movement. High ambient at slow speed is just air movement. At speed it works. I did not install a shot off valve. Not normally a SoCal requirement. Winter runs to Willow Springs Raceway will be the test...........

Default Quiet Ride Solutions

Have you looked at the kit from Quiet Ride Solutions? Pre cut patterns that are made specifically for Superformance and Factory Five cars. I have used them for other cars, the insulation is a superior product and the kits save you a ton of time. Check them out .

I wonder what the effectiveness is of heat insulation applied inside vs outside the footbox. I would imagine that reflecting the heat before it enters the car's interior is far more effective, but it still may be worthwhile applying thermal insulation inside.

I suspect on the outside is more effective but I didn't want to put insulation on the topside, exposed surfaces of the footboxes. I added some more of the type ERA uses on the outside of the footbox, to the underside of them due to under floor exhaust . I also covered the bottom of the floorpans and trans tunnel with Lizardskin ceramic coating.

The engine compartment is were you want to stop the heat...........I think the stand off panels are a seldom used but very effective mod............Thermodynamic gurus please chime in.............Cheers

Foil backed 3/8" insulation on the top, sides, and floor of both foot boxes plus foot box vents. That plus carefully blocking every source of heat entry has worked out really well for us. Not much you can do about the blazing SoCal sun though. Plan carefully and avoid stop and go traffic like the plague. Sometimes I'm a little envious of guys that live where they have clouds. I have a heater if it gets really cold but that is more of a psychological benefit than anything else. "Cold Honey? Okay, I'll turn the heat on. Is that better? Great!" Motor on.
