BTW, Kirkham, who supplies the aluminum bodies to Shelby, offers their rollers starting at $80,000.

Seems if you can buy an aluminum Continuation series for $200,000.00 right now, that would be the move. After rollers hit $160,000.00 a finished car will clearly be north of $200,000.00 by a good margin especially if finished nicely and with detail.
I have been down in the dumps lately cause of the heat in AZ, I needed a good LAUGH, thanks...

I'm glad my nature is to be happy, no thrilled, with my cheapo fiberglass SPF. I recall back in the day a fiberglass Corvette was just perfect.

CSX rollers starting at $160K for a 60 year old car design?... must have been plenty of hugs and kisses at the showroom.
Well the good thing about college is that you get a rounded exposure to lots of things including hippy professors teaching Philosophy elective courses. Having been married in the past, I know exactly what you mean by the type of criminal described by your professor.

Interestingly I was looking at an article recently that had this information in it:

2013 Acura ILX
Base price: $25,900
Fully loaded price: $34,400

2012 Honda Civic sedan
Base price: $15,955
Fully loaded price: $26,900

The ILX and Civic are built on the same platform, so essentially they are the same car with different features for prices between $15,955 and $34,400. The top end of the line is more than double the price of the bottom end. It looks like Shelby is just following the rest of the industry as far as pricing goes.

I don't believe in another 60 years, hot rod makers will say "nothing rides and performs like an Acura."

These hot rods are basic cars: fast gas engines, tubular frames, no fancy gizmos; they shouldn't cost $200K++, or $150K, or $80K.

In 1962, an original cobra was about $6-7K which equals to about $50-55K today. So $50K should get u into the driver's seat for a simple go fast fun hot rod.

It is simply nostalgia that these hot rod makers are selling, and I don't believe the X or Y car enthusiast generation has any connection to these hot rod shapes and will pay $200K out the showroom door for old car technology.

Amen to that, I am just as happy with my SPF as anyone could be. So why spend the extra for a Continuation car that is just a replica of the original?

That's right.....but I drove mine this morning....and yesterday...and the day before. And I didn't have a stick up my @$$ worrying if got a rock chip or a little kid spilled ice cream on it and ruined my massive 'investment' while I was in the grocery story picking up something for dinner. When I got into this I worried some that my fakey-do 'Cobra' wasn't 100% (or even 75%) authentic but after having it for 10 years and enjoying the hell out of it and encountering people that spend all their time waxing theirs or trying to convince others how much mo better their car I realize how much more of a bargain mine has turned out to be.

Keep laughing. 2004 I backed out on a deal to sell my Shelby for $145K. Was selling at that time to buy a FGT. Decided to keep the Shelby and take the plunge and buy the FGT in addition. Glad I did both. The owner of my car's near twin and just as detailed if not more so recently turned down $250,000.00. Of course the peanut gallery won't believe me but that's just fine. Keep laughing. Just as with originals some are worth more than others depending on many factors.

I wouldn't sell my car for anything under $200,000.00 and have had interest expressed for numbers north of that. Keep laughing.

Funny: Just got back from a drive in my Cobtra. Whatda know. Seems like I'm not the one with a stick up my @$$ from the tone of your post. I've had my Shelby Cobra for nearly 14 years and each year I enjoy it as much as the day I took delivery. Oh, have plenty of "patina" from road rash and stones too.

Not trying to convince anyone how much better my car is. Nope. Just keeping the facts straight from those trying to drag it down.
I don't know who you met but it wasn't me.

Oh, btw I can clearly sell my Shelby Cobra for substantially more than my initial purchase investment. As to the future? Who knows. I can say this with confidence that my Shelby is more likely to appreciate substantially in value in years to come over any FFR or other fake Cobra. If there were a bet on that I know where the smart money would be. LOL.
Hey. I'll alway be hear with my popper scooper to pick up the CC peanut gallery turds. Keep 'em coming.

Thats clearly all you hear. I didn't know you hear for everyone else too. Interesting.

Maybe you ought try "listening" instead of just "hearing". There is a difference but likely beyond your grasp as well.

Well, u have authenticity and yours will worth more. I am not sure about these new CSX rollers at $160K. I don't see the "DNA" connection to the originals.

Also, your Ford GT will be worth $1,000,000 quickly. That's one of the cars my generation of car geeks will buy for big dollars and that will be a future kit car.

DNA is Carroll Shelby and SAI. Since Carroll's death that presents another potential issue of attenuation. Agreed, but they are still Shelby's and come through SAI. However, are Ferraris any less Ferraris since Enzo died?

Only the future will tell. I do know for a fact and have had interest expressed for my Cobra in excess of $200k but not selling. Well in excess of my purchase $.

I agree 100% on the FGT.

Ok too many directions that this thread recently went.

First off I'm sure NYG well knows about supply and demand. So what has the demand been recently? And what other factors can be taken into consideration. All the models being made..50th anniversary, slabside...50th anniversary FIA...S/C...289.....

There is supply manipulation by the way.

Not sure if it was Mark IV that posted or someone else. I thought the rollers are priced very high if these figures are accurate. He thought so also because he knows the costs involved. I mean if a roller is now 160,000 I just don't see the justification in that price. I might know a little about costs in R & D and production in the aerospace industries and for what is in a roller I see a big chunk being paid for air. If you want one sure go ahead and enjoy. For me to justify to write a check I just could not.

Oh thanks a lot Real 1 we have a new term....fake cobra.

Why are some of you members always talking about ass and a$$holes...seems like some of you have your mind there. Just an observation don't take offense.
