I own one of the early CSX1000 cars where the body was hand hammered by AC on some of the original wooden bucks before the deal between Shelby and AC fell apart. The cars were shipped to Shelby from england to be finished. Took way more than two years from the time the cars were ordered. I think only the first 14 of the 1000 series had hand hammered aluminum bodes by AC.

I paid well north of 300K for my car because of its rarity and quality. Also because Carroll was directly involved with making the 1000 cars happen, keeping them true to the original heritage even wearing AC Cobra badging on the nose.

In my opinion, the Aluminum 4000 cars built in the living years are approaching the 200K mark, maybe not yet but soon.

And a clone of my Kirkham WOULD be $175,000. Does any one want to pay that right now?

Just like you, I'll keep repeating myself. Hillbank has a brand new completed CSX4000 for $199,000. No wait. (They should pay me a marketing fee). Buy it and flip it for a quick profit. Do it quickly before the secret is out.

I'll keep "waxing on" about sales, because, for example, when you buy a home, your realtor should be showing you actual sales data about comparable homes in the neighborhood before making an offer. I hope folks aren't buying homes based upon Ethyl's words, paper and/or computer algorithms.

I think you do have one of the very special continuation cars (1000 series) that can claim to be be the second closest relatives to the originals (I consider the McCluskeys to be first), and I think they are in a class all by them selves. I saw one of them being delivered to SAI when they were up at the race track and it was simply gorgeous seeing this filed aluminum body on the open truck (presumably from a railyard). Then talked about the remaining transformation to bring it to finished roller. It's a lot of work!

The winner sold it but that was a while ago... They don't change hands very often (at least with the trade being of public record) so using comps to set value will be difficult.

Not sure, It sold at auction back in 2011 for 335,500.

I would be more than willing to open the bid at 400K today...

Thanks for posting.
Sometimes we're the only ones talking here so we think we're the be all, end all.
I used to think that until I expanded my 'Cobra orbit' when I moved to LA.
My wife's friend's husband (whose been at McCluskey since Dolphin shorts), has shown me another side to high end replicas, Completion Cobras, originals, etc.
People would be surprised to know what a Kirkham dressed to the 9's really goes for, or who the premier engine builder for originals is, or how 'that guy' got his friend an incredible deal on an original and restored it, for cheaper than the CC brain trust would believe.
Published numbers are for everybody. Lots and lots of guys deal in originals as well as high end replicas 'behind the scenes'.
$200k for an ally Shelby done well? Abosolutely. Very close to that for a KMP.

Less of them around then Cobras. lol In fact I'm one of the go to guys for F1's since I pulled one out of Brunei along with 6 others from the royal family years ago. The F1 registry is the only registry that I help out on when I have the time.

Would have been nice to be part of the Tuscany tour.

In the beginning Carroll Shelby created the Shelby Cobra automobile - after that it becomes a bit "fuzzy"………….

Rumor has it that Larry Ellison paid $1,000,000 for his Billet Kirkham, or did he? What was the final price? What is it worth to the next owner?

Supposition, conjecture, hearsay, internet banter, etc. I'm very happy for this "underground" economy.

I paid $30,000, or maybe, it was $40,000 for my "hot rod shaped like a Nissan." I forget what I had for breakfast. I'm so old.

Some people think I paid too much for my Cobra. I think some of them paid too much for their watch. My Timex is just fine. But in the end, we spent our own money and got what was important to us. Why do we have to argue about that?

Here's a picture of two factory approved full competition cars, csx 4163 and csx 1003 at SAC 35. I can only speak for myself, but I believe you won't see these cars sell below 200 thousand. I don't know if any of the other competition cars have sold, but I doubt they would sell below 200 thousand either.

Your car is a rare Continuation Cobra for sure. The peanut gallery here is what it is. I agree that the early alloy Continuation Cobras and others special Shelby's will bring a premium especially in the future if the hobby endures. The early cars had many details the current ones do not have along with being at SAI when CS was there and very much involved.

Rocknock: it matters not a wit to me whether you believe me or not. Many factors and information suppied here by others support increasing values on alloy Shelby Cobras and my own experience bears this out to me. You not so much. I get it.

Evan: Likewise. What you say in this subject area matters not to me either.

The upside of this thread has been the Mullen2 came out of the shadows and joined us with his CSX1000 car.
