It's cool that Kirkham got to build this car, they don't finish cars for US consumption.

I'm positive it was done right. Nice job K-guys!!

I can tell you with factual documents that CSX4017 was built in TJ and she has several other CSX numbers written on the lower footbox and tub. Indicating to me that these components were not installed as originally intended.

Are there comprehensive records being kept on the different locations of assembly? I know a few guys spend a lot of time on 60's Cobras so was just wondering.

Hey Real 1 what does the registry have to say about the above locations. LV Tijuana SA builds or assembly locations?

No you guys label your cobras so I don't have to use original before cobra to state the real deal.

Another thread did mention an exception. For the aluminum bodied 50th anniversary edition, Kirkham shipped body and frames to South Africa to be put together along side the fiberglass bodied 50th anniversary edition cars. So there is always going to be an exception to any statement...

It doesn't mention specific locations of fabrication for the fiberglass bodies as I recall.

Real deal? Again depends on whether you are talking about original or continuation. Could mean real deal "continuation cobra" or real deal "original".

I think we use the SAAC definitions. Fair, clear and easy and preferences each with the appropriate amount of provenance and pedigree and is not demeaning to any.

Someone should keep a record of this as it is part of the history of the Fiberglass Continuation cars.

While in general HiTech does not build aluminum bodied Cobras I was offered a Daytona Coupe (CSX9000 series) by Lance that was in SA nearing completions. It sure seemed like that car was being hand build in SA by the HiTech crew (he made no effort to say it wasn't built by someone else and finished there but it sure sounded like they formed the body there). The alloy body for the Coupe is an option - are they indeed fully built in SA?

That is exactly what I mean. The facts are not out on the table for all to see. My instincts say all of the Aluminum bodies, roadster and coupes are being supplied by Kirkham via his European factory. They are then assembled by HiTech into your typical " roller " configuration. I have never asked Lance that question, though I believe he (and Kirkham) has that knowledge. Lance will sell you either a Shelby or a Superformance, both coming from HiTech.
I believe the interpretation of the photograph is incorrect. Anyone who has watched the fabrication and assembly of Kirkham cars must be impressed with the quality and integrity of this product. Check out the array of photos they have supplied to this site.

Here is a link to another thread showing pictures of csx1000 and csx4000 aluminum body/frames in the Shelby Vegas facility.

Aluminum Body

These pictures are from the timeframe of fiberglass cars being sourced from South Africa.

Thus we have evidence of Vegas still building aluminum csx1000/csx4000 cars up from English/Kirkham body/frames as late as 2012.

Funny how this car pops up, I was the one who ordered it with two others. The ad is incorrect:

In 2004 we [i.e., Kirkham Motorsports] first sold the rolling chassis to Shelby, who built it up with their parts and components into a standard Shelby roller.

Car was just chassis and body, I am sure there is much more BS but I dont have the time to read it.

You can not make that determination from one photo.

Thank you for finding the typo (the sentence doesn't make sense as written--the roller couldn't be built up with Shelby parts if we delivered it as a roller). We have contacted Curt Scott to clarify the ad. This frame and body was delivered to Shelby as a frame and body only.

Just for clarification: we sold two rollers to Carroll Shelby personally. We have never sold a roller to the company Shelby American.

Always nice to have another set of eyes looking at things. The ad has been corrected and now says:

"In 2004 we [i.e., Kirkham Motorsports] first sold the body/chassis unit to Shelby American Inc., who built it up with their parts and components into their standard CSX4000 roller."
