He also said the battery was in the trunk....a Street car would have an engine bay mounted battery in front of the right side of the firewall.

Someone obviously moved that. They either did it for more weight in the back or so they did not have to remove a valve cover every time..

Thanks Bruce I believe that makes 3 options on street cars. I'd imagine yours has a bent needle ha ha.
The batteries went in from underneath and were just in front of the passenger foot box. They had a heat shield as part of the bracket to stop exhausts beating them up. The log manifolds were like a cast iron radiator/heater.

...ugh....Wayne...Wayne...Wayne....getting very sloppy.

editing was bad...like others said, the sequence of updates to the car (plug wires) were way off.

Loved the validation of the car....one look under the hood. YUP its REAL!

for the producers....
Some history/CSX#/etc....docs or vintage pics would have been a nice touch.

...instead....we get another human emotion moment...'lets give the kid a ride in a Cobra'.

If I were that kid (images of 'The Bubble Boy' from Seinfeld come to mind) ...I'd say...'I've got nothing to lose Wayne', grab the keys and dump the clutch at 5K....buh bye Wayne-O.

I thought it was far fetched from being a barn find, that was some nice garage. That said the car was very nice I cringed when he wrote on the trunk with the dirt...yikes sacriliegeous. I thought it was a great gesture on his part to take the cancer survivor kid for a ride, you can see the kid's face light up. Well done!!!!
I wonder how much he sold that car for? Did not like the sidepipes, that killed the street version look of it.
loved the show great looking car!! By the way who makes the Sunburst wheels and are they still available?

Wayne is a class act and a well respected car guy across the board. Knows Ferraris like nobody. He runs that little shop, but apparently seems to do ok doing what he does!

When you install side pipes, the battery has to be moved.

Legendary Auto in Canada... any connection to Legendary Motorcars, Peter Klutt's place in Canada. Used to watch his TV show some years ago, especially when they did a multi-show restoration of an original cobra, loved that show, wish it was still on!!!!!!!!

No connection whatsoever, as far as I know.

Makes sense - the batteries were pretty low in front of the footbox on the originals.

I don't have any first hand knowledge of the wheels but it seems I read they are now DOT approved for the USA. Might want to check on that just to be sure though if that bothers you.
Personally, I wouldn't have a problem using them, DOT or no DOT approval.
They look very high quality to me.

I thought the battery was either behind the front seat or in the trunk depending on the year?

Standard battery position on a stret car is lower right hand in front of the RH footbox. Difficult to R&R battery without taking a valve cover off.

Yeah Wayne knows his Ferraris and takes the time to chat when we bump into each other. Have never been to his Portland shop but seem to get together when he's in my neck of the woods.

The batteries were located close enough to the side vent that they would occasionally spew acid fumes out the side and mark the paint on the fender and door when a cars charging system was set a little too high. I can remember seeing more than a few Cobra's with paint damage from this problem.
Probably not an issue with today's sealed batteries but I don't think being that hot would be good either.
