Wink What other sites do you participate on?

Was wondering what other sites some of the members here participate on? Only a handful for me.

And why is this site advertised as the largest non-biased cobra site? Is that based on the majority not owning 1960's production Cobras?

And oh will someone please kick the pot that cobradude28 is sitting on so he can answer an email

It is the largest because it is the oldest and most diverse. It does not differentiate between original and/or kit owners. As with SAAC, it is the enthusiasm of the membership as a whole, and not an elitist attitude of a very select few (maybe 4 in total) original CSX2000/3000 Cobra owners that makes this site one of the best. You would be surprised how many original owners also now own replicas, or how many past original owners now own replicas. Then again, you would be surprised how many original owners are on here as well.

"Non-biased" because the biggest Cobra site (FFCars.com) is primarily for FFRs, but they do put up with "outsiders" like me who own(ed) something else. I'm also on GT40s.com.

I'm also on the Gyrocopter forum, as I used to fly one. Now I have a Para motor.
I love this site. Has helped me so much.

Ok interesting answers. I thought there would be a flood of guys reading HAMB or Hemmings.com. I do glance over Hemmings for certain reasons, I think it is one I post the most on when I have something to say. lol

Theoldmotor.com has very interesting pieces on there. SAAC I already got tired of and gave a second try after 20+ years. Tired of reading guys looking for help and a few responders were "do some leg work" including Kopec.

About once a month I check out Dogfightmag.com they had some interesting threads on 50's 60's fiberglass cars. But otherwise it's quiet on there.

Cobraregistry I never heard of until I noticed it on this site and the one sundude is on for real cobras only.

I use to read that antique forum of cars but no longer. Too many forums or owner sites that are good but who has the time. The Aussies make me laugh on here all the time.

Doubtful, as I find those there quite helpful, even to those like yourself. Yet there are those who give, and those who take, with some (like your posts here suggest), it is all about their family pedigree, for all others, it is not. I'll leave it at that.

Is an autogyro the same as a gyrocopter or a more modern term for one?

If anyone remembers Alexander Miller(collector of mostly Stutz), he and my grandfather had a few things in common. Both were engineers and both served and were pilots. I know before my time he use to stop by our(grandfathers) estate from his home in Vermont to his fathers in NJ. My grandfather drove my brother and myself from NH to Vermont one day to visit back in the 70's.

Mr. Miller had a autogyro delivery service at one time and collected these surplus machines over the years. I believe he had the mall service in the 1930's.

Anyway I know he donated an autogyro to the Smithsonian and the other one which was damaged my grandfather procured it. Will have to check out that site.

What kind of certification do you need to fly a gyrocopter? Mine is private pilot with several ratings so I guess maybe under rotorcraft, but not sure.

Will check out that site soon.

Thanks

Gruff probably knows he has a Naval Aviation badge.

Well that's the way I talk, history is a big part and I'm long winded. I won't mention his name but I quote him often. There's a story behind the story, and behind that story. So to me everything is linked in some way.

Not to get into any intellectual properties but the great masters(like da Vinci) view the past, present and future in cycles, patterns and rhythms. Which can be applied to most anything if you understand the concept.

No a persons true colors eventually come out when it's least expected. a few jumped on another's back far too often on SAAC site. I'm sure 99.9% are helpful as the members on this site. My experience was noted there with Kopec and corruption flows from the top down.

I don't feed any of my dogs Pedigree.

Seems only one person tells that story who "lives on the east and west coast". It is that chip on your shoulder which is the dead giveaway.

As for the rest:

I have a wonderful family, some quite famous in their own right, yet it is rare that I mention any of them as it is irrelevant to this site. Same goes for education, wealth, and a host of other items that again are not relevant to this site. I prefer instead to give to those that ask, regardless of whether they are of noble stature or not, and to never look down my nose at any who are here.
