Default Billboard stencil on non Good Year tires??

A few discussions going around here about the Billboards. At the GT 40 "scene" it looks like it is pretty common to stencil Avons with GOOD * YEAR. Now I'm kicking this idea around...

What do you guys think?

You have a GT40 replica and now you're going to have replica AVON or Goodyear the tires. So who really cares.

Personally, I don't think I could bring myself to doing it. Just another thing for folks to pick apart. "Hey, those are Avons!...How come they say Goodyear on them?" But to each their own.

I like them! I'm seriously considering this for my build.

Bad karma, IMO. Get the AVON stencil! looks better on AVON tires.

I like the idea but would have to be on Goodyear tires, like our kit Cobra's they are not right without Ford power under the hood or so I have been told.

Real Billboards have a significant bulge on the sidewalls. It adds to the retro look. No radial would ever provide that level of detail.

As far as whether to stencil or not, to each his own.

The Continental Grand Am spec tires I run on my open track car are not-so-secretly made by Hoosier, with a Continental stencil in yellow...

I'd stencil yours as Avons if it were me.

As with so many things in life, again we have opinions this time on stenciling tires. No surprise. Life is so short there is no reason why all of us cannot have things our own way. Right or wrong depends on who your talking to but when it comes to a project car and wanting a certain look nothing should stand in ones way. We all know most people would never know the difference in what's right or wrong comparing our cars to originals since no two of those was identical.
I like so many have strong opinions about these cars but try my hardest to contain them. Thank you all that steer us in the direction we need to go to find the parts venders that help make these dreams reality. BillBoard Radials? will have to give thos some serious thought when the season rolls around again.
First things first that would be a roller cam and all it's related gear.

First test, stencil works fine. This one is a Ford spare tine and it looks a little odd. Anyhow the hardest part is done, with my cutting program I can easily modify the size.
I took yesterday the wheels off my car. I changed my mind on the final body paint and the body is off to the painter. Anyhow, I need to change the color of the rims and while off the car I will "bill boarding" my Avon's.

Curious what technique you used to apply: air brush or modeling brush? And the paint was Ranger or other brand?

Rust Oleum High Heat rattle can paint. It sticks, it's durable and it is a nice flat white.

But does it have a flex agent additive? Please let us know in 6 months whether it cracks or not.

This stuff is made for tires. 2-step process. Base coat and color coat. Not in a rattle can though...

Ranger Tire Paint — Welcome
I got a 8oz can sitting right here. Applied a very thin coat, like in the instructions and then the final coat.

Well, that paint peals so easy off I decided not to use it cleaned off with lacquer thinner.
If you pay shipping you can have that can. USPS box not more than $8 - let me know.

Anywho, I'm in contact with a company which makes rubber lettering for tires. By next week I know more about that...

I was just talking to a Cobra buddy about this.
I haven't painted my Avons yet (with "Avon", hehe) but when I do, I fully expect them to yellow like Al Capone's teeth. Avons feels very oily to me.
You should see how they stained my epoxy floor!!! Not surprised the paint peeled. I don't mind the yellowing but the peeling would bug me.
