Old SAAC Guides by Kopec
Just fouud these two Shelby American Guides by Rick Kopec that were published in the late 70's/early 80's. (1st and 2nd editions?)
Does anyone know if there were any others like these by Kopec?
Cheers

OK. "I deserved that" (with such an open ended question) the grasshopper says to the master.
Love these books. Every page seems to have a little history I had not heard before. And the pics are priceless.
What other titles were available that I can look for?
Cheers

I know I have both of those in the library. The B & W I read over and over. The color picture you posted is familiar, however I think mine might be an older one. I may be mixed up. All I know was the first early registry I had the binding with my usage busted it all to hell. I'm sure there's a library on SAAC somewhere to give a history of their publications. Makes sense but Mustang will know.

Besides the usual, there were a few early editions produced, including the ever famous buyers guide featuring our own Howard P. on the cover Attached is a shot I took a while ago as I was cleaning things out of my basement storage room.

Thanks Bill. I have the one in the middle and an earlier/later edition., and I've seen the one on the top specific to GT350 Mustangs etc.
What's the one on the bottom? Seems thicker and hardbound. An early SAAC Registry?
Cheers

That is the 1982 Edition, I believe there is one earlier version as well, some Cobra owners lists that were published back in the late 70's by the COA. I'd check, but some things are buried in off site storage.

Thanks Bill. I guess I'll watch for the '82 edition to add to my set/collection.

Shelby American Cobra/Mustang Guide, Vol. 5, No. 1 was also done in 1987 or 1988
Wife tells me that the 82,87,97, 2010, 2012 are in my office. All others are in storage. The latest offerings are the one's to have as they hold the latest and greatest amount of information ever published on these cars.

OK I'm dense. I think I've got it now. These volumes/editions are the early versions of the SAAC Registry (today's 3" thick version that we grown to know and love).
Is that right?
Cheers

All except the Shelby American Cobra/Mustang Guide, Vol. 5, No. 1 which might be 100 or so pages.
The 82 Registry is about 1" thick, mine was so well read and used that the binding is toasted and I now rarely pick it up to move it off the shelf. The 87 registry 1.75", the 97 2.5", each of those incorporating all Cobra/GT40/65-70 Shelby information.
The 2010 and newer registries are broken down in to three separate volumes, each 3" thick. Cobra/GT40's in one, 65-67 Shelbys in another, and the 68-70 on it's way to the publisher soon and threatening to break the scale at the local USPS shop.
The amount of new information is mind boggling to say the least.

Well I've got the '97 and 2010 so I guess I'll keep my eyes open for the earlier ones to add to my shelf.
Thanks again Bill.

That explains a lot. as i said my binding was shot to hell with all the usage(1982).
Is it worth hunting down copies published in the middle(97) since the current ones are updated?

Registry Entries for 2 Cobras - All editions - please!
Hi, I am looking for:
1. All Cobra Registry (whatever the actual title at the time) entries/pix/video on CSX2084 and CSX2396 from any book that has them in it. Just scan and pdf is fine, text and any pix.
2. Also, anyone have a picture of CSX2396 from Hersey, PA meet in 1993?
3. Trying to pin down the number of original Cobras w/original, matching 260 motors, and 289 motors. It seems CSX2084 may have been factory fitted with a 260 originally, even though the number is past the alleged cut off for switching to 289s. Any build sheet available for 2084?
Thank you... Panz919.
Newbie here. For Cobra credentials I only had a kit Cobra w/650h.p. crate motor, two speed drag tranny... did 10.23 & 10.24 w/MT cheaters... went as a spectator... but for an extra $15 couldn't resist racing! Talk about fun.
