Heacock insurance ....awful!
I have had coverage with them for a few years,and have learned that their agents are stupid and uncooperative.When there is a problem,they never want to fix things in a favorable manner.

Rather than generally trashing them, how about being a bit more specific? Was there a claim problem? Billing problem? Misleading information? Failure to respond to communications in a timely manner? Being more specific can help others understand your perspective.

All insurance companies are the same. Their mission is to not ever pay you anything. They put bread and butter in front of you when you sign up and then serve you c**p.
An insurance company never loses money. Remember that when it comes time to file a claim. They will pay you (if you are lucky) and then the industry will extract it back from you in increased premiums.

Insurance companies are difficult,I've had to have the CT State Insurance Commision straighten out a few.Heacock,being a southern company thinks that their local rules apply....where businesses can do what they want ,because the state agencies there have little power.Sorry,the backward ways of florida will not stand up when they do business in a more enlightened state.

The details would be nice but they won't make a difference. The agents job is to stall, pay out the least amount of money possible only when absolutely necessary. They are all like that unfortunately but they are a necessary evil!!!

Will say this when they are trying to entice you as a customer there is a lot of smiley faces, their tone is a lot different once you submit a claim. Amazing how clear the fine print becomes.

You really can't paint any entire industry with one broad brush. I spent 39 years in Corps of Engineers construction management, responsible for managing construction contracts worth billions ($) in present worth. I witnessed a lot of my contempararies paint all contractors as liers, cheats and crooks when actually only a very small minority fell in that category - as witnessed by the ones who ended up in jail, lost at trial or were debarred. The rest - the vast majority - were just trying to make a living, run a business and build something satisfactory on a small profit margin.
I had my first vehicle accident this year and the lady who hit me totaled my car and then gave false insurance info. My experience with my carrier, GEICO, was 100% satisfactory. They promptly looked at my car and declared it totaled and gave me a check the next day that was pretty much what I had paid for it 3 years earlier because it was obvious it had been in excellent condition, loaded with options and had higher than average market value. Then they managed to find the actual insurer of the lady and recover my deductible and some other very minor costs for lost property I claimed.
My 2 cents is if you don't like dealing with Heacock, leave them and go try another one.

I have been with parish Heacock for over 13 years I have had nothing but good experiences with them I have 3 vehicles with them and have even made a claim.

We southern knuckle draggers are always happy to be a source of amusement to the "enlightened" citizens of the blue northeastern states. Having lived in New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Maryland, I still managed to miss seeing the advantages associated with progressivism.

As one of the posts states, the devil is in the details.
For clarification, Heacock Insurance is an independent broker, not an insurance company. Their role is to place coverages on behalf of an insured (us) with a carrier that best fits their needs. In exchange for their services, insurance companies pay them a commission for policies placed, usually a percentage of the premiums.
Insurance companies and brokers are licensed by individual states and are precluded from writing insurance policies outside of these approved states. Every policy holder has the right to contact their insurance commissioner for complaints and improper handling of claims or premium payments.
I am a retired insurance executive having run insurance companies around the world for both large commercial enterprises and personal coverages. I am highly aware of the bad reputation insurance companies have created for themselves. Believe me, I've had plenty of experiences where people have literally run away from me during cocktail parties or other gatherings when they found out I was an insurance guy. And I've had my own issues with my personal insurance coverages (I would not insure with my own company due to conflict of interest issues) and had to fight battles to get what I deserved.
So, I always made it my company's mission to treat the customer with the highest respect and better than the other companies. With the bar relatively low, it was not a difficult mission.
My advice to make your experiences with insurance companies less painful is to make sure you know what is in fact covered and what is not, especially with our unique collector cars and other assets we tend to accumulate. Get to know your broker as they are the gateway to your insurance company. A face to face meeting, an annual coverage review, and market review to make sure your existing carrier still meets your needs. This is not so easy if you choose to place your coverages direct, an often cheaper way to go, but also no advocate to act on your behalf, which is a role the broker will hopefully play for you.
My apologies for being so verbose, but maybe this will be of some help rather than criticizing or defending various posts.

Agreed. If you're already at litigation and give no detail as to the situation you claim you were wronged about, there was no need.
If you wanted to 'warn' fellow members about this company, you should have posted in 'Consumer Watch'-again, providing facts and reasons why members should avoid this company.
Members are very sophisticated and experienced about insurance coverage here and you didn't come asking for help. Bashing needs to be accompanied by fact in order to be considered or believed by anyone.
More of a presence here would have made you aware of that.

Dang, I've got to agree with ol' Chas on this one. You can't just float in, drop a turd in the punch bowl, and then slip out the back door without somebody throwing the flag. As a general rule, you do not complicate litigations by telling the truth... because it ultimately comes out anyway.
