Buzz,
You can now apply for membership in the "Crash Test Dummies" (no bad JuJu meant) union now!
Glad you are reasonably OK!

I agree with you all and I am thanking my lucky stars it wasn't as bad as it easily could have been.
Mickmate - Re: the BF Goodriches - useless tires for drag racing, but about the only tire I've found hard and tough enough to take the abuse on some of the rough, potholed roads down here. Having said that, I genuinely wonder if a better set of tires would have made a difference in my ability to keep control in that same situation - Heaven knows I tried.

If you can put your shoulder back together the car should be a cinch.
Take it easy out there.

Buzz,
I am sorry to hear about this and I am very happy that you came out of it as well as you did. The Cobra can be fixed a lot easier than the body. I know it is going to be hard to do but have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and be thankful you weren't hurt worse.
I borrowed your picture to post on our site as we have a thread going about how quickly these cars can get away from you for the new builders of which we seem to have a ton. I also referred them to this thread so they can read what you said.
Take care, get well, and keep us informed.
Ron

Been there done that..! .....in 96....the car gets fixed...also cut my brow on the windshield ,took out two trees on the median.....I have 4 point harness, that was not on at that time......had I had the belt on I would
have had no injuries......

Geez man, that was a close one!
Seems almost all the street crashes with our cars, always involve a tree or a pole of some sort. Odd how that seems to happen..
Hope your back to 100% soon. Tempted as you may be to start checking out the car, I would wait, especially if you have to lay down to look under it. I hear that it is easy to have a second dislocation of a joint, soon after the first one, if your not real careful.

I do not know if my tyres are easy to buy on your side of Atlantic ocean but when I equipped my Cobra with "Michelin Sport Pilot", I discovered a big difference in behavior of my Cobra (a great improvement) on wet or contaminated surface. My Cobra became almost as efficient as a "normal car" to keep contact with the road in adverse conditions. They are costly but long lasting, with an excellent pattern. (but these are not the ones I use for racing: on dragstrip, I use Hoosier).
In France, your body injuries would cost you nothing (we have a 100% national general insurance health coverage ) so, in my country, it costs more to get a car repaired than an human body repaired Get well to be able to dance on the New year celebrations!!!

Glad to hear you are o.k. Not sure what I think about you putting your own shoulder back in place!! Pretty tough stuff there!! I think I would of preferred the anesthesia! My guess is the clavical will have to heal on its own no matter how broken it is. It is like the one bone you cast. My son had a broken one at birth. You have a guardian angel and a reason you are still hear. So, what are you going to do about the car? Let me know, I have all the parts you need to repair it and will be glad to help you out. Or I could use a car in my shop.

Thanks again everyone. Good news is that I saw the orthopedic surgeon yesterday and no surgery will be required. Six weeks in a sling and some therapeutic rehab and I should be good to go again.
Queenie - thanks for the info on the tires. A tire upgrade is definitely on the Cobra's fix list.
I'll update with details and photos in once I get around to having an in-depth look at the damage.

The good part is that worse comes to worse, at least I can still go to the beach (subliminal hint re: new paint scheme)

Thanks Jackie. Finishline has been very good to me in the past and will always be at the top of my list for Cobra shopping. The idea of putting the car into a repair shop is appealing, but being all the way down here in the islands, it will be a long slow do it (mostly) myself project in my garage.

Great drawing from an artist!! The "reindeer" girl on the left with the black outfit is nice!! But I would appreciate also a "slim" christmas "chippendale" boy.
Just finished the Christmas dinner and it was great. But the weather here is rotten: rain, winds (70mph), cold), not tropical.Waiting for January to fly south in Mauritius.

Just saw this...
Aside from the expected and certainly well-meant "glad you're ok" and all that, let me say this from the perspective of friend who would sorely miss your presence on this here rock...
Damn it...don't do that again! Scared the hell out of me reading it...until I realized you wrote it so you lived.
Wished I could give ya hug in person, though I'd probably take your shoulder out again. Wuv you big time.

Hey Big Brudda - I've missed you guys too. Been a strange year, but I'm happy as heck to be here typing this. Virtual (one armed) hug right back at ya. One for Ron and Brent as well! Celebrate the New Year well my friend.
