Yeaaahhh.... it IS a single roll bar, I forgot about that.

FWIW, I was strictly thinking about my passengers. Even if in actuality it serves no good purpose, I couldn't overlook that detail. PLUS, I, for one, think it looks better (god forbid, not original) than the single one! It also works to hang my detailing towels, instead of putting them down anywhere

The boost is electronically adjustible in the cockpit. At 14 lbs boost it's approx 600 rwhp, this video from a few months ago was at 15 lbs boost.

That looks like fun! I wonder if the same power in a naturally aspirated engine would make it easier to control wheel spin, and get more power to the ground. Still, that looks like a blast! What was your speed/rpm/gear when it got squirrely on the freeway? I'm just trying to get a sense of what my car will be like, but I'm only planning on just over 500HP/TQ to the wheels, so I know it probably won't be too squirrely, but I worry about traction from the middle of third gear. Not really worried, but just want to be ready for when I throttle it up in 3rd gear and starts spinning the tires.

TXBLU, bear in mind I run 2.73 rearend gears (my car is set up for handling). When I dial my power down to around 500 rwhp, I have no wheel spin at all except 1st gear (on the street). At the track no wheel spin at all in 1st if the surface is prepped.

Please start a thread of your own about the content and experiences of your car. Not everyone's cup of tea but technically very interesting for the tech-minded like me. You can answer questions and you'll get plenty. You've taken a different path and it needs to be explored. Not the usual 'floor mat' thread...

fell out, banged head, bar not properly sized, G force - no emergency vehicle and no EMT

Terrible to go out making a mess on a public road.

Roll bar seems to have worked properly - helmet, and harness, a good chance he walks.

That picture is very alarming for use cobra owners , Two roll bars would be better ,I didn't buy my car to be safe and one roll bar it will be for me . The windshield posts on these cars look to be very weak and not safe in a rollover . I know there have been several survivors of rollovers ...........But this whole thing is a Gordian Knot of alpha male opinions ..........I am more worried about getting hit from the rear and snapping my neck.
But I can't help grin at Patrick's beautiful ride with two bars and padding on both no less .I was a believer how fast and deadly these cars can be after I actually drove mine.
I would like to know exactly what happened to the poor chap laying deceased on the pavement....was it the car ? was it driver error ? Or was it just an accident with a car that is known to be a killer sometimes ? Or when your number comes up are you just going anyways ? ..........At my age ONE rollbar is what I want ,that is my choice . Short wheel base and lightning quick ..........makes me feel alive too . Respect this car ! IMO. Patrick I will
give you a hundred bucks to take that padding off them bars for one year ! :-)....all in fun sir and drive'm if you gottm'.....no bars or multiple fine by me . And even padding too

One thing I have really considered is high back seats for better safety ......I still say these cars are safer than a motorcycle . be safe guys

My guess... and that's all it is, a guess... is that he was behind slow moving traffic, relatively rural road, very soft shoulders, maybe some sand/dirt on the broad, got fed up with the guy in front of him, he pulls out and over-accelerates, the rear wheels broke loose, his nose might not have been pointing forward, his rear comes out... fast, he drops a wheel or two off the side of the road, and at the point perhaps even Stirling Moss himself couldn't have brought it back. It then flipped sideways and rotated around to an end-to-end flip. If the top of his head was not scrubbed off by the road, then it may have been the fact that he only had a lap belt on, which lets you smash your face pretty hard in to the steering wheel and dash. That's just my guess, though....

My guess was going to be a tornado picked up the car and took it for a ride. Your theory sounds more solid.

And I agree with the other guy, the roll bar did it's job. Loose harness, no harness, not enough height on the roll bar, etc. The driver side cockpit area appears rather well in tact.

Purists will choose single roll bar, Safety conscious would choose twin. My car has a single wide bar that protects both driver and passenger, I love it.
My personal taste and opinion.

This is obviously a person who cares very much about his loved ones. Why he would drive her in a Cobra at all seems like risky behavior to me. I just saw a commercial for a Kia Soul and it's 5-star crash tested according to the commercial. Personally, I'd only drive my significant other or other loved ones in a safe new car with a roof and ABS.

And I'm sure beyond the 2nd roll bar or one that is the length of the cockpit, this person also has practiced other "safe" behaviors, which are more likely to happen, such as having a will and trust, planned and saved for retirement and purchased life insurance. Since if you practice safe behavior with your Cobra with the additional roll bar, I'm sure you've also done that as well in other areas of your life.
