Newly Acquired Cobra

Hey there Club Cobra! I have a question for you all. I have just taken full ownership of an Everett Morrison Gen IV stainless frame from my father who just passed away last month. I was very close with my dad and was with him every step of choosing and building this wonderful machine. I have driven it off and on for the entire time he owned it.(We started the build about 8.5 years ago and finished it 5 years ago) I have been driving here lately and there are a couple of issues I want to deal with, however I need your immediate advice on one problem. When I brake hard the car wants to stall. I have researched this but it is hard to find particular information about the 427 FE. I have located the vacuum line for the brake booster and it is a very nice SS braided line with an aluminum AN fitting going in to the top of the intake manifold. There seems to be no auditory leak that I can hear. Is there any thing I could try or advice you can give. Thanks so much and I look forward to talking with you guys in the future.

May not be related to the brake booster vacuum. it may be related to the carb and float bowls. How about some additional details on the engine, distributor, carb, and whether you have a mechanical or electric fuel pump for starters.

I had that problem on my Cobra when I was racing and I changed to a Holly racing carb which had something in it to stop the fuel from rushing to the front of the float bowls when braking hard. Never had a problem after that. I think there is something that you can get to ad inside the bowls and where he vents come down also. Rick Parker on this site would be a good person to ask as he knows that stuff.

Jet extensions and racing floats usually reduce this effect. Basically, when you hit the brakes hard, fuel in the front bowl flows away from the main jet and can uncover it. Also, fuel from the back bowl can slosh forward and up and out of the bowl vent momentarily flooding the engine with raw fuel. Try lowering the back float level and see if that helps. If not, try jet extensions on the front main jet.

Nothing more to add after Mr Mustangs and following advice, But just in case, back to the original thought about loosing vacuum, while running shoot a light mist of wd-4o on the hose and connections, If there IS a leak you will hear the idle go up noticeably, If not back to the jetting.
