I went back and read through the Hurricane sub-forum, looking at some of the drama when the first iteration of the company stopped production, the initial attempts at a resurrection, and then the successful acquisition by Scranton Manufacturing. Whew! Really interesting in retrospect, especially with the backdrop of what we now know as the financial crisis of 2008/2009 (I sure know how it has stalled my build plans!). Just good to know that this super high quality Hurricane offering is still around!

It was scary, that's for sure. Mike and Rich built a great company only to have it seized by the government from the people they sold it too. I never knew what happened to Dean Lampe's first car he built with Hurricane. It was part of the seizure as I remember.

Best buy IMO for the money and quality body and frame . The headers
are not the best fitting I've ever seen . That may be common for a lot
of kits ? This is my first Cobra and I am a proud daddy and it's just
my opinion If I would have wanted a FFR I would have bought
one already finished . I am not a builder my car was a turn key from
Lee's Summit Gen. 1 . I hope to have my car ready for Tulsa this year.
My son and his wife won't get out of my car !

Thanks Bob ! I remember you telling me about the roll bar position was not spot on with the early Hurricanes. +1 for Bob

Hurricane #1065 was the first one built with the revised/correct roll bar position.

And so was 1023!
Which is why 1065 was produced that way! (just had to toot my horn for a second!)

I went by to look at the holdings they were going to auction off and the original Hurricane replica was there...they said the engine had a knock and the door panels were missing....they were going to auction it off with the rest of the inventory and fixtures.

Anyone on here have any idea how many units Hurricane is producing? The current offering looks FANTASTIC, and I'm just wondering how much of the market they are getting.

I think I know 1025...is it red?
I can't remember the name of the owner when I saw it...know he drives a Backdraft now. If I am right about the car, the engine in it was incredible, IIRC it was a built 289 Hi-Po model.
Cheers!!!
Dugly

I was where your at.... hurricane or FFR?
I went to the ffr factory was impressed with there product but did not like there incomplete kit or body shape
decided on hurricane after seeing one being built in jersey and speaking to mike and rich
they were terrific to deal with.
I believe i'm the only one running a mod motor as well
