installing Speakers in a FFR MKIII
Hey guys. Does anybody know what size speakers you can install on the kick panels just in front of the seats-almost on the floor just under the hinge area? I have seen guys install them there but im not sure what size speaker they have. Thanks

What's next? Cup holders? AC? A Top?
Mine's a Sports Car. No fru-fru. The sound of my engine is music to my ears.
Your car, your stuff.

That's what I love about Cobras. Most of the time each car is a unique extension of the owner's personality, especially if you build it yourself.
If you want music, install it. Do what you want, it's yours.
I respect your decision to install music listening capabilities in your car. I hope you get recommendations from CC members on what they think is suitable and wish you many happy hours of listening.
IMHO you might also get headphone recommendations while you are asking
about the speakers.
Whatever melts your butter ;-)

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I just bought my first cobra last week. 2 things...#1-I have a radio that came with the car. I can't see myself ever turning it on. #2- It has 2 6x9 speakers behind and (2) 4 inch in front with a 400watt amp'

...and Chevy engines...
I put 6x9s in there in my Hunter. Don't know if that'll work in an FFR or not. I couldn't hear the stereo at highway speed either, but it was nice when cruising around town.

I always say, if you can hear the radio, it's not loud enough.
I don't have a stereo in mine, but when I was driving to the TCC meet a few years back, I brought my ipod and headphones, but I still couldn't hear the ipods music.

I have a 600+ HP FE with sidepipes. Everyone said not to install a stereo, I'll never hear it, that's not what Cobras are about. Blah blah blah. I installed JL Audio 5-1/4" speakers in the kick panels and behind the seats, and a JL Audio HD600/4 amp in the trunk, fed directly from my iPhone and with a hidden volume control under the dash. So glad I did. The amp has enough power and it's great for cruising.

Honestly, unless you're playing the tunes at a car show I don't get putting stereos in these things. I have used an iPod on long trips but most of the time I enjoy the 'quiet' of not having music/radio playing. I use an ear plug in my left ear anyway and so should everyone before the pipes and wind noise permanently damage your hearing.

I have 2 6" Pioneers with a 300 watts amp and can hear the music fine in my Cobra, I also installed a windscreen and the wind noise has been curtailed without the benefit of impeding me to hear the melodious sound of my sidepipes.

It was a simple question, he asked for a size.
I have Polk Audio DB501 5-Inch Coaxial Speakers installed in the front panels below the door near the hinges. You can see them on this picture, it's a tight fit and I measured several times. 5 1/4" might fit too.
And Polk Audio DXi690 6x9 speakers behind the seats, but they are not visible.
With a 720 Watt Amp, I hear them.

6x9's behind the seat (center) 4 1/2" in front with 400watt amp. I could hear it fine. Used it once today to show the wife. The HAPPY song was on that she liked. When it was over the radio went off.lol
