no, sir, I do not have buyers remorse for my electric car. It is my daily vehicle to work, for errands, travel, etc.

We are in a car forum discussing adult toys, things we don't really need but want, big ticket fun items ($50K or more).

I see that you own a Kirk. Do you have buyers remorse?

I am simply suggesting to the original poster, Ace, to start at the best of the fakes. He will enjoy the whole cobra experience more (driving, ownership pride, car show respect, etc.)

I don't wear my feelings on my shoulder so no disrespect taken. I am a pretty die hard motorcycle enthusiast so maybe I stand a chance falling into the cobra guy category

We're discussing your advice to Ace to buy the best Cobra, otherwise Ace will feel buyer's remorse. We all have budgets, adult toys or just a DD. A Kirkham or Shelby is probably not in Ace's budget nor is a Cammer engine either.

You said you would like to own a Tesla, but instead you own an entry level electric car. That sounds a bit like buyer's remorse to me, whether it's a DD or an adult toy, even though many Tesla owners (sedan or their 2-door sports car) feel their car is an adult toy.

We all would like to have the most expensive and/or best brand of anything we purchase, personal or real property, but we have to live within our means. So, I don't understand your advice to Ace about buying something, anything, he (or she) may not be able to afford. And then stating Ace is not Cobra guy for not buying the best, even though he might not be able to afford it.

By extension, that means the preponderance of Cobra owners are not "Cobra guys", since Kirkham's and Shelby's represent a small fraction of total Cobra production. And I believe they would beg to differ.

My SPF gives me all those things for less money and THAT helps me enjoy the whole Cobra experience more!

I have the money to buy a Kirkham or CSX and I just don't see the reason to spend more.

zackly, thinking a kirkham or csx is what defines a "cobra guy" is foolishness at best and a rookie perception of the hobby. To think that anyone is seeking a "thumbs up from the old timers" with a non-kirkham/csx "entry level purchase" is baffoonery.

I am starting to get old and wise. After listing my 20 plus problems I realized if you don't have something it can never cause you a problem, a disappointment or enjoyment. Should I have been a poet? I still cannot find a replacement for a bottle of Jim Beam, my iPod with 1800 songs and a lawn chair to sit and get plowed in. Maybe I try cannibus.........

What nonsense.... I can buy what I want and I always want value even in the purchase of a toy. Others may have a different set of values and different equation and come to a different conclusion and that is why Baskin's and Robbins has 31 flavors.

I find it annoying when someone confuses their opinion with a fact and assumes that they are speaking for everyone.

My advice to the OP is to get a1996 $900 Kawasaki ZXI 1100 two stroke jet ski for the following reasons:
1) you wont care about scratches
2) you wont care about new scratches
3) it didnt cost anything so no expectations
4) it goes 62 mph on a 600lb machine, zero to 30 in 1.8 seconds
5) Outside of hitting a bridge or submerged object little risk to injury
6) the two stroke pisses off all the environmentalist with a passion
7) you can get 9 cans of beer in the front with ice
8) parts are a dime a dozen and for the most part free
9) accleration is soooooooooooooooo fun and there is no risk to your health.

Do not buy a new one which is representative of a couch and weighs 900lbs, if you want that buy a boat. In all honesty I have had more fun on my jet ski than the Cobra, but you need to be in good shape to fully enjoy it.

Haha oh lord. I have ridden a few jet skis growing up and man after about 10 minutes that was about as boring as it gets for me. I think If I was getting back into those types of toys it would have to be another Hayabusa with a turbo.

Thanks for the advice. I'm checking out the SPF again tomorrow and I hope to make it out to Dallas next weekend to see a BDR from Vintage that was produced in 2013 with a coyote setup. This will hopefully really help me establish the following
*Permitting weather I will have gotten to ride in both a coyote car and a car with a 427.....hopefully puts me in a position to make a decision on the powertrain

*DRUMROLLL....do I want a 10 year old SPF with 10K miles or a brand new BDR.

Assuming the SPF is in the shape I keep thinking its in I would think it would be something that I could sell in a year or so for the same price assuming I find myself wanting a BDR or different powertrain. Going the BDR route I start off with brand new components with good support and would "theoretically" be slightly ahead of the price increase that may or may not get transferred into the market. Worst case scenario with the BDR you end up losing a few bucks selling it to either get another BDR with another power plant or thinking you made a mistake and look at getting into a SPF
*I think the drivetrain is going to pay a big role. My testosterone and inner gearhead says get the traditional gas guzzling, cammed out SBF or BBF that makes a bunch of noise and makes babies cry....my rational side says get a turnkey coyote. Boils down to a personal decision every man has to make

I would take the new BDR over a 10 year old 10kmiles SPF. Better yet I would look for a relatively new BDR and Spend 40-45k.

I've had my eye out on ebay and cobracounty but not many options. Seems like they are all the wrong color or have the wrong drivetrain. If I had more experience and thought I could find the right BDR for $45 that would be worth waiting on because I am in no hurry at all and I always welcome the thought of saving money. I'm looking for one of the silver family cars with either black stripe, no stripe or silver silver stripes. I guess I should keep in mind this is driving season so maybe there aren't as many up for sale or may there are I don't really know how the cobra market moves

If you're not hung up on Ford then an LS7 in a BDR would be VERY SWEET. Ample room for growth with that 427 SBC which already produces great power.

505 horsepower @ 6200 rpm
475 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4800 rpm
7000-rpm redline

Make a simple cam change and you have 680 hp and corresponding torque. BDR + LS7 = 1 high tech screamer.

Good luck, I'm sure whatever you decide will work out fine, test driving each is a wise decision.

Did you see the LOL ? I'm sorry that you don't "get" my sense of humor. Did you see the youtube videos that I embedded?

As for being called a derogatory word/name, that doesn't bother me one bit. I'll wear it. I'm a "no excuse" person. But it does explain to me after your 10 (or whatever) posts here on CC the person you really are inside. I'm not the person who advised Ace (and nearly every other owner) that he (or she) isn't a "Cobra guy" because they didn't purchase a $100,000-$200,000 Kirkham or Shelby.

Yes, now back to the thread.
