Anyone know the number of 427 Cobra kits made to date?
I know this is a big question, but I would think that someone has the stats on how many total Cobra's from all different kit car makers was sold/built.
Break it on down to 427 Cobra's, and then 289 Cobra's, and only here in the USA.
[Not counting the real Cobra's, or continuation Cobra's.]

78,561 kits/rollers (72,836 427 versions and 5725 289 versions), minus 8.954 that have not been completed and not counting 7,221 one offs that are so perverted they can not by any stretch of the imagination be considered a true Cobra replica. :

Ah I forgot to put one of these in my line
I knew that would get you. But seriously I can enjoy them all. I don't play favorites... I don't list anything and I don't count the automobiles I own or ones used in our homes for everyday use. I never counted. There's a few pics here and there. They are very jealous of each other and if I list any the others might just refuse to let me drive them. Well for me there are 2 types REAL and OTHER. I do not own an OTHER and in the REAL there are the 289 and 427. Never owned a 260. Although when in the area that copper Kirkham looks very interesting.

OnyxRider, very careful parsing of words to say exactly what? This question was asked on the Let's See Your Chevy Powered Cobra thread - and remains unanswered.
What do you own in the way of an original, genuine or replica cobra? A man as vocal as you on this forum surely must be proud of what he owns no? Stop hiding and come out of the closet lol.

I would say that kits SOLD would be more feasible, as I don't think there would be any way to know how many were finished, or have chebby engines.

Here is my off the wall guess:
A) Knowing that the Cobra is the most replicated kit/replica
B) 427 are the largest in the marketplace (FFR the largest)
C) Outside of the Canadian 289, Aurora there are limited 289 cars
My guess:
427 cars @ 7000
289 cars @ <500

Factory Five has been around since 1998 & is in the 8,000 range in cobra replicas & has the largest manufacturing numbers. Unique has been making cobras since 1979 so in 35 years at say 100 per year we have 3,500. Superformance has been around since 1996 with a production of another 3,500. Backdraft has been around since 2000 & has sold roughly 1,500, as I remember Reg celebrating their 1,000 unit a short time ago. With those four companies we have 16,500. ERA has been making cobras for a long time. With 25-30 companies in business now and another 20-25 who no longer are in business making cobras I would say 30-35 thousand replicas would be a much more accrete account, in the past 35 years. With less than 1,000 originals we have come a long way, to putting the cobra image back on our roads, even if it is a replica.
Lets name a few:
