Default What do you think of this SPF with under car exhaust?

Just curious as to what others think of this design?

I backed away from getting a Cobra due to the strong possibility of my wife or kids getting burned from the side pipes accidentally. I never cared for the slabside look.

I then saw this SBF and thought it looked really good. Just curious as to what you all think of this car.

I like it (it goes well with no rb). I think offering the street version is a good choice by SPF. Any pictures of the rear?

And that SPF needs black wheels.

There is a owner that has a SPF Roadster and Coupe in Memphis that has under car exhaust with the non functioning side pipes in place. Olthoff did the mods to the headers to allow for under car exhaust. So if you like the look of the side pipes yet do not want the possibility of burns that is an option. BTW, Love the pic that itstock posted.

We have sold several "Roadsters" with undercar exhausts. One to a woman who was concerned about her kids and sidepipes.

Personally I love the look of the "street" cars with undercar pipes, no scoop and full bumpers/overriders.

Stop. Kids, wives, girlfriends, can be trained to enter or exit properly. If not a welding blanket will eliminate risk. Sometimes I wonder how we won so many wars in this country.

Oh and I have been burned many times and I lived!! My 7 and 9 year old have never been burned in the last 6 years. They stay away from the car hot or cold and if they ride in it I lift them in and out as I have to fasten the seatbelt anyway.

One of my sons is autistic with significant learning disabilities. He is still non-verbal and he is 11. He loves to ride in my other cars (04 SVT cobra Vert and 11 GT500 vert). He likes to walk up and look at them in the garage. He would not understand until he was burned.

After owning a BB Vette with side exhaust knew our Cobra was going to have belly pipes. In my opinion so much more comfortable on long rides and without the side exhaust the lines of the car stand out better.

One other feature I always loved about exhaust out the back is standing there listening to those two pipes make their music. Big inch, long duration cam,double pumper, hot ignition all add up.

I will stick with my side pipes, the real look. If you don't want side pipes buy a Honda.

Hi..MJJ

Superformance makes a fantastic Cobra replica. The one you picture, however, appears not to have an engine in it. I'm assuming this b/c it appears that the oil cooler is not hooked up and the front suspension looks to be uncompressed. Such is the case normally with an SPF as they come from South Africa in this state with the customer specifying the Engine/Trans options to their preference. I'm assuming you know this already....but I just mention it b/c of not knowing how deeply you've enquired about the car you have linked in your first post.

Others here have stated their preference on the wheel options, and I am more of a traditionalist when it comes to the appearance of the cobra replica, so I agree to the 15" wheel options that are available. You could either put an FIA style pin drive wheel on the car if you want a very early 427 look, go with the standard Halibrand replica wheel, or go for the more rare sunburst style that have also been reference here by Tim in Post #12. The disadvantage with the traditional look is that there are not many good tire choices for 15" wheels as there are with the taller 17" wheel that appears to be on the car in your link. You will have the option of more modern compounds over a wide range of tire manufacturers if you stay with the non-original appearing 17" option.

Also, you didn't need to explain yourself on why you prefer to own a cobra with an undercar exhaust, but I hope that when you finally get one in your garage, that you and your family enjoy it for many miles and many years. I'm sure your dear son will have trouble removing the smile from his face when his dad takes him for his first ride.

I like the look of the 427 street Cobra. If I were going to buy a 427 that is the Cobra I would spring for. I like the 15' wheels better, the pictures itstock, DanEc and tkb289 posted would be what I'd go for.

It's a matter of taste and both ways are legit. Saving your ears from dB abuse and being more friendly to V8 power both have merit. Tail pipes also sound great, just in a different way.
