I think the author trying to imply this was the beginning of the cobra craze copies. Much better real cobras with rich histories that exist than a 4000 series.
Of course you disagree with the CSX 4000 being on the list. No surprise there. but there it is, on the list.! Just burns you guys up eh?
I agree with it being on the list for numerous reasons. Much better "real" Coras exist? Maybe to you but not him.
CS was always in business to make money whether in 1962-68 or thereafter. Last I checked so are the fake Cobra makers.
What SAAC accepts as a legitimate Cobra is distinct from what manufactures may legally refer to their cars as. This concept and distinction is beyond the grasp of many here. No need for me to name them as they undoubtedly will reveal themselves in short order I'm sure.

I saw another ad for a "65 Shelby Cobra 427" today. When the price wasn't $3M+ I knew exactly what it was.
Clearly. It wouldn't be a real '65. Could still be a real Shelby Cobra.
Asking price can help distinguish. Ageed. When I see ads advertising "Shelby Cobra" or "Cobra" and the price is below a certain level I know it's a fake Cobra/Shelby Cobra and isn't an original series or a continuation series either. Good point.

I watched 2002 being restored by an old Cobra friend who prefers to remain anonymous. Apart from a fantastic mechanical and cosmetic resto, he converted the car to rack and pinion steering in a way that it could be taken back to original (worm and sector) without butchering.
Consider the source. The article was written 2 years ago, by a "writer" (I use that term very loosely), James Tate, who has written maybe 3-4 auto-related articles in the last 4 years.
He wrote this hard-hitting piece on getting your car ready for summer:
Here's his Bio:
James Tate cut his teeth in the business as a race team crew member before moving to the editorial side as Senior Editor of Sport Compact Car, and his work has appeared in Popular Mechanics, Automobile, Motor Trend and European Car. When not writing, Tate is usually fantasizing about a vintage Porsche 911.
I can understand fantasizing about a 911 (), but that doesn't make him Colin Comer or Trevor Legate. Or anyone writing for a significant collector car magazine like say "Keith Martin's Sports Car Market", to which I subscribe.
He also "wrote" (I use that term very loosely) this "I'm going out on a limb" article back in 2011 entitled "10 reasons The NFL is Way More Entertaining Than College Football":
“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived and dishonest – but the myth – persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.”
I'll let the knowledgable historians sort out the ramblings of Mr. Kraus, but personally, I didn't buy my Cobra replica because of the racing history. I bought my Cobra because of the looks, the street cred and old movies like this:
Ok, let me type this slow so you can understand it:
Brent,
Go build that 496 and post everything (including the power rating when NOT RUNNING), instead of trying to educate the kindergarten.
You've tried to explain this countless times to the same guy(s) and your mistake is you're not writing with crayons.
Seriously, give us some hard-core tech and maybe Ron / Jamo will spare us this endless SBF / BBF and inane questions BS.
I have 3 FE builds coming up that I'll be sharing....the 496, a 427, and a 527 inch cammer. I'll be more than happy to discuss the technical aspects of each if we could get some good dialogue going. Club Cobra deserves more than these asinine polls and threads about real/fake Cobras, SB/BB, and Ford vs. Chevy.
Most excellent.
I assure you with me here, and your paying customers you'll have meaningful technical dialog. And we'll learn a ton if we're paying attention.
I'm crazy for all of them but the 427 (SO I hope) has my heart. Mine is still original 4.230...Love to see you get 1.4 on pump gas. You need the right customers for real power-like the 496 guy who wants a top end motor and no pansy cruising at 1800. I'd kill to see you pull 700 at 10.8. Bruce with #3170 has a Kinetic 496 which does over 700-be interesting to compare.
Bring it on Brento!

The 527ci Cammer is the one I want to hear about. That's a build, I could see myself doing in the future. That's why I was asking on another thread about max ci's for Pond and Shelby blocks.
