Very likely not the Ellison Cobra for the reasons above and as I recall, Keith Craft built the motor, not FE Specialties.

Before I paid that kind of money for a car it would be scrutinized in every way. The best of everything always makes me suspicious that it is always a very opinionated subject plenty of threads to back that up.

Well, let me say this about that...

Total bullsh!t and after all of the trials and tribulations of the last decade, listing a replica under EBay's separate listing for originals (or describing them in Hemmings or anywhere else like that) totally pisses me off as well. Shouldn't have to read crap like "Kirkham wood-grained polished wheel" to figure it out.

Of course it's not Ellison's...I have one of the polished arruminum presentation books the Kirkhams made of it...with the swaths of luscious brown leather inside (computerworks has one too). At that price!?

Figured it might be Mark's given the reference.

Don't give a good golly damn if it's a dealer or someone trying to flip it...no excuses in my book...period. I have no patience for stupidity in my greying state.

You guys sure know how to get agitated over trivial stuff. Maybe as we get older we just don't have too many ways to vent our stresses (frustrations), because the kids may have left home and the wife is about to leave too, so we find these kind of non-sense of get all pissed off about..
The wife is not home anymore and kids are gone, however golf relief my stress.
Golf guys, don't waste your pissing days off on what a add may say.. Who cares.. The buyer who purchase it will only pay if he is satisfied...
Get a life.....
By the way, it is a good looking Bugatti at a Kirkham Cobra replica price..
LOL.. this is fun!

This rare Bronze 289 Kirkham showed up on eBay with the heading "1966 Shelby Cobra." Though the 2nd heading does state "Kirkham."

I agree with ItBites. Kleenex is brand, but also is used generically.

While I concur with the misleading advertising being wrong, I would not let this post bother me. Seems to me that the originals are certainly museum pieces and works of art that are best parked and not ran and appreciated for what they are. Todays replicas are mostly built very well and in many cases even better than the originals. The Kirkhams are beautiful vehicles.

What makes you think a FE specialties aluminum 462 can't get you that level of torque?

My 482 from Tom (FE Specialties) peaked at 625 ft-lbs.

Absolutely one of the most stunning Cobras I have seen. It is so beautifully done my only issue would be it's to nice for the track.

As to the ad, all ads should accurately state what is being offered for sale. The ad in question does not. This is the kind of stuff that pissed CS off and rightfully so.

Morris, Jesus Christ! Your car is a beast. I absolutely love the ground effects. The front spoiler is a piece of art. Good luck with the sale.

About the misleading headline, I'm sure it has happened once or twice, but how many original CSX cars have been sold on Ebay anyways? I doubt many owners of original cars use Ebay as a market venue, nor do buyers who are in the know. I guess my point is that he who is looking on Ebay for a Cobra will almost invariably be looking for a replica... If you look at this ad and believe you are buying an original car at $155,000, then you probably have no business getting into a Cobra in the first place

I do not think there is anything wrong with a catchy headliner. It made you all look, right? Are some of the description inflated statements? Sure, but it is the responsibility of the buyer to determine that. Are we to assume he is selling this car to a caveman who just got his/her license, or a reasonably intelligent individual that can research and do his homework before shelling out $155,000? This seller is not a lier, he's a good salesperson. He released the maker of his replica, and tried to use some superlatives to sell what is a drop in a sea of Cobra replicas...

When the time to sell my "1965 Shelby Cobra Semi Competition" comes, I will be loosing money, because mine does not have its dash signed by CS, and is missing the original magnesium wheels

Cheers!
