Dilema, what would you do?
Currently I have a 1966 Mustang Fastback Hertz clone appraised at $42, 500 and have the chance to purchase a Cobra Shelby for $34,000. My wife says I can't have both this is mainly due to the fact we don't have the room for a fifth car. So my dilemma is should I sell the 66 Fastback and purchase the Cobra. I know this is probably the wrong site to ask this because everyone is a Cobra fan, but I'm just looking for some input as I love both cars.

dont do it. the $34K cobra is just a mustang convertible but skinnier.
best thing to find a local car club or cobra owner and ask for a short term lease. test drive before u buy

Not sure where you live, but if it gets cold in Winter and rains, you will probably get a lot less drive time with a Cobra than the Mustang. You can modify the Cobra to drive in these conditions, but it sure takes away the "fun" factor.

Get plenty of cold weather and rain, my Mustang has never seen rain or water since I've owned it (use waterless car wash on it) does not have a spot of rust. Still can't decide what to do, wish I had a bigger garage lol.

Here is what to do , Get rid of the wife and keep your 5 cars add the Cobra and have an
even half dozen .

Don't play the trade game, don't play the "I'm testing the waters (IE: fishing) game, just sell it, take the money you cleared and use it as your budget. Buy with cash, and be done with it.

The problem is I can only have one or the other as my garage can only hold one car, and I wouldn't feel comfortable parking either the Mustang or Shelby in the driveway. Maybe I convince my wife to sell our house and buy something with a bigger garage. LOL

For me, it would depend on if I'm done with the Mustang. If I've had it long enough and my enthusiasm is gone and I'm looking for something more exciting, then I'd do the switch. If you are not "done" and will regret the sale of the Mustang, then don't do it. There will always be Cobras available when you're ready.

Only you can answer that question. Like Greg said, if you're bored with it, then it might be time for a change. Also, it would depend on the condition of the $34k Cobra, it might not be worth $34k, or it might be a great deal.

I have my Cobra and GT350 in a storage facility...couple hundred a mo but well
worth it.

Then you have to decide which one to store!
Take the wife for a test ride in a cobra. She'll either love it or hate it. In any case, decision made!

At the same time his "insurance (not market) appraisal" most likely will not come close to what the actual sale price of his car would be either.

Is your garage large enough (and tall enough) for a 4-post lift. Amazing what you can do in a garage if you have enough motivation.

I agree with most of the others, that if you are truly growing bored with the Mustang, then a cobra would be a fun replacement.
I have owned many cool muscle cars over the years (one at a time like you).
I can tell you that the Cobra is a real driving experience! Probably the funest car I have ever driven! I bought my Cobra to replace my Bike, because I was getting tired of people not looking out for motorcycles.
But if you really love your Mustang, I would recommend keeping it. They are getting rarer everyday.

Is your garage tall enough for storage lift? If so have both then you know for sure .
