Default Hot August Nights Autox

We took CSX3170 to Hot August Nights to Run the Autox in order to qualify for the Good Guys Shootout in Scottsdale November 14-16.

The course was small because they gave a very small bumpy lot with drainage ditches to the American Street Car Series to use for the autox. Bill Howell did a great job with what he had to work with, so it turned out OK.
We talked with Hot August Nights Organizers and they were very happy with the autox and the interest people had in both the event and cars running. Next year they promised to have a much bigger site that will really put on a show for all the spectators.

Scott Fraser won overall in CSX3170 so we get to take it back to Scottsdale to see if we can improve on last years 3rd place with all the changes made this year.

Here is a video of Scott's last run, data acquisition showed a peak speed of 41 mph with a minimum of 13 mph. Although I pulled 10% from the fuel tables we were still too rich and fouled the plugs. I think 13% would have been about right. Those walls were so close I did not trust myself to try a run or two, since I tend to use too much throttle. Scott did his usual precise drive with no mistakes and brought the car home safe and sound.

We had to drop the front springs by 50 lb/" and add 1/4 " of rake to get around the course but the car is so tunable now it worked great.

Cool...first the drag strip and now autocross. Haven't been to it for several years (busy this time of the year) but going to try next year.

Walls...reminds me of why Sears Point always scares me a little (a lot).

That is a very tight and short course! Good job using the power to slide the rear around.
