Looking fantastic and I'm really looking forward to seeing it progress.
I keep forgetting that it isn't an aluminium car.

BTW, I'm pretty certain you'll find they're called "Dzus" fasteners, not Duce.

Paul,,Thanks for the correction,,,That's what I get for relying on Seri to do my typing ,,

The letter P in P51, P-38, P47 and other WWII aircraft stood for Pursuit later changed to F for Fighter as in F14, F15, F22 and so on.
What would a bird of prey be without weapons,
The first attached photo show 3 of the 6 50 caliber machine guns on the full scale Mustang. The Mustang was one of the fastest aircraft of its time due to its power plant, wing design and aerodynamics. Note how the guns are built into the leading edge of the wing creating very little drag.
The owner asked if we could incorporate guns into the concept and we came up with these unique directional lights. They had to be custom made per side and now that the rough fit was a success the housings are getting the same aluminum plating treatment. Once they come back and polished we will add sequential LED high intensity lights and lenses. It should be a real nice light show when the flasher are on.

Thumbs up

Ron,

The lights are just too cool!

Some day you'll have to show me what components you used to build them.

It's looking great!

P-51. No need to wait, here's a few highlights of how we fabricated them.

Mask the area that new light will be molded to

Find just the right shape and glass over it

Remove the plug from the body and pull out the shapes

A stop a the local plumbing supply house and some enhancing

After a mold was pulled of the glass part we cast a new one from plastic and add the parts

Think you are doing great job just wanted to point out that the top view of the guns in relation to the head light seam to point off to the side a bit. Not trying to be smart ass but maybe was intentional?

Carmine ,, We haven't targeted those guns yet, still have to find someplace to put the ammo :-) Only kidding,, the barrels are not permanently mounted yet, can't do that untill the housing is plated.

P51,,, I was waiting on rivets, the size I'm using was backordered but came in today so now it's getting set up for the paint work.

We did get the second step of polishing done

It is.

The black out is being masked first then the nose section will get the checker board masked and painted

Buzz I will admit there's been a few heated discussions here at MM as to what line, rivet or fastener goes where but in the long run it's going to be very close to the concept.
I will say we are having a ton of fun with this project!!

Masking figured out and paint going on.
