Maybe it's just a weird angle, but those headers look strange with the way they exit. Yes, minor point on an otherwise beautiful car.

I saw this Cobra when it was for sale be an independent dealer in Anaheim/Orange almost three years ago.
I'm a fan of CF. Went back and forth on price and was looking for a deal but ...no dice. The seller said it was a rare 'Terlingua Edition'. After telling him there's no such thing, he showed me the build sheet which said 'Terlingua Stripe', see? LOL.
Anyways, I hope the owner is happy. Definitely needs those Terlingua badge stickers.

Very clean car, but, I'm amazed that Shelby could let that car leave the factory with that ridiculously ill fitting passenger side sidepipes. They stick out like a sore thumb !!!

Hey Rodney,

Don't know if this is one of them or not but I believe Bill Neale and Shelby were going to do 10 'Terlingua Edition' Cobras and only a few were built. I know Bill Neale did have one of them.

I saw the first completed car and the 2nd car maybe halfway finished in March of 1998. I think one car was headed to the Peterson Museum, and it was built out of sequence as the last number of the group. I have no idea where the cars are today or their owners.

Gary,
IIRC, they were set to do 10 but only did one [confirmed in Registry, pg 713]. Also, that was years and years before this build.

Cobra427,
HST did complete cars but supposedly for out of country delivery only. Don't recall about this one. There's quite a bit of what us hobbyists would call 'strange dealings' with some CSXs, particularly HSTs. Like warehouses with built and unbuilt cars, offers of unsold rollers, 'deals' from quasi private parties (investors), etc. You know, regular stuff around this hobby.

Sounds like he needs to step the idle speed up a tad.

I notice he pulled front first into the parking spot and shut down quickly instead of taking the time to back in like most of the other cars. My guess is it was running very hot and possibly on the verge of stalling.

The collectors on those pipes are way too long, holding them too far out from the body. Maybe someone was afraid of cooking the carbon fiber bodywork. Easy fix tho - still a nice looking car.

Mine was one of the 7 carbon fiber cars. All were built by HST. HST's complete cars were all suffixed with LA (Latin America, e.g. mine was CSX4005LA) and were built specifically for some customers in Mexico City. Two of that batch were CF cars.

There was one at the Shelby Legacy Bank show this July so maybe that was the 1st one but I thought they built 3 of them in total. Next time I see Bill Neale I'll ask him.........

Why is the rear license plate off to the side and not in the middle of the trunk...

Gary,
I was going by the info in the latest registry. There may be more but I've got my reservations about this CSX4954 being one.

Tony,
I'll post a link to this Cobra's plaque when I get home. There's no 'LA' on the number

I am assuming the end of the video shows him leaving. The car idles a lot different in that section of the video than when he pulled into the lot.

Man that cam is perfect, that's music to my ears, reminds me of what I had in 3183. The idle is set perfectly, if that motor don't sound bad to you, your living in a dream world.

Barely able to stay running, you can hear each cylinder firing, now somebody get me that cam info, so I can duplicate that sound.

I agree. Too low for me too. Maybe it was the poor sound of the video camera, but I thought it didn't sound well. Also, I don't like the "Paris-to-Dakar Rally" ride height. And the headers being held off the body would drive me nuts.

Other than that, nice car.

Speaking of idle, csx 2058 loped sorta like 782 but only slower.. The lope was so slow that the alt light would begin to show @ each low end of the stroke. That is till you blipped the throttle. The response was instant! That was a thumping little 260

I wasn't saying that all of the CF cars were Mexico cars, only that two of the LA series cars were. This is my recollection from the registry. I believe another one or two CF cars were produced after the registry.

I loved that lopey sound too. My engine was the same, but fuel injected and it took a while to get it to work at 6000' but once it did, it was great. I am going to do an X-pipe on my Ford GT so it might sound a little more like the Cobra. I don't want to hear it, I want to feel it

Tony,
I heard that HST finished the complete CF 'LA' cars. Correct?
This one appears to be completed by HST but for the domestic market.

Yes i understand all of the la cars were built and sold as complete cars. Non la HST cars went through the regular Shelby vegas trip. Someone here said they inspected my car in San Diego before it was shipped to the Mexico owner bu t I don't think it went to vegas for final.

I was told by Amy that the la cars were a special deal by HST for a group of Mexican owners that wanted a group buy and that HST agreed to build them as a group without affecting the existing schedule thus the early numbers with the la suffix
