"Billboard" Avon Tyres
Changing the tyres from the Goodyear Billboards to the Avon CR6ZZ's was a good move and they are MUCH better to drive on. However, I always felt they looked rather bland compared to the Goodyears, so I thought I'd give it a go at making them into Avon Billboards.
The Avon race tyres have very large lettering on them, but the CR6ZZ tyres only have a tiny AVON logo, which doesn't really cut it, so I did this:
These were sprayed on with a stencil. I'm undecided about whether the lettering is a little too large or not. I have another stencil made up that is slightly smaller and I may give that a try.

I like it Paul and have considered doing it to my Avon's as well. I hope the paint holds up over time!

That's what I'm hoping. They're a bit to bright and white at the moment. :

They actually make white tire paint. I have a can of brush on but I think you can get the spray also. Saw a car a few months ago where a guy painted Goodyear on his Avons and had the best of both worlds. Ride and drive of Avons and the Goodyear look..........

I gave the tyres a thorough clean before I painted them to make sure all the surface grease and release agents have been removed, so I'm hoping it doesn't just flake off.
If it does, I'll strip it off with thinners and get some proper tyre paint.

They should yellow pretty good over time.
Avons are great but that rubber is oily and dirty.

Do you mean the actual template, or just the picture so that you can copy it?

The picture so I can copy it would be good enough. Sounds like a few of us would be interested.

I've always like the worn vintage look of the wheels and tires...

The other option is to use lettering from http://www.tredwearletters.com/galle...g-alternative/.....
