Default Roush 402R (Oil Brand and Grade Used)

For all you Roush 402R engine owners out there. What type of motor oil and grade of oil are you using for 402R?

Hi!

I use 20W50 Valvoline VR1 Racing at my Roush 427R. I was talking with Dennis Olthoff when i was buying the car - he recommended 20W50 for normal use, Mobil 1 10W30 for racing. Mobil 1 is not available here so i am going with 20W50 since 4 years without issues.

Depends on your climate. If you reside in a cold weather climate, like Ontario, then I'd choose a lighter grade than 20W-50. Something along the lines of a 10W-30, 10W-40 or 15W-50.

I hadn't looked at the Roush website in a while, but found it interesting that they're not selling the 402 anymore, but they offer 5 flavors of the 427 SB. Isn't that the motor that was giving them fits for a while?

All of their small block 427's list 10/30 as the recommended oil. I want to say that they used to recommend 10/40 for the 402.

I'm using my own home brew method, with a 50/50 blend of Joe Gibbs 15/50 and 10/30.
