That should be a pretty desirable car, if you plan to sell it, regardless of what it is. Alumin bodied cobras, at the very least, are at the higher end of the replica field.
I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, & it may give you a little more insight. In most states in the USA, we have smog regulations. One way to avoid these regulations, it was this way in California before they implemented the sb100 program, is to have your car titled per year of the engine block. Some went further & just made up a year(or even make/model) that superseded those smog regulations & titled it that way(our department that handles licensing isn't always on the ball).

Are there any new pictures from the weekend? Did you find a serial number stamped into the driver's side shock tower?

Wow ! I get to be first to respond ! I am honored !
No doubt about it !!! IT IS Kirkham 0469, as stamped on door hinges . Absolutley !!
The "LAC 017" was added later, maybe in GERMANY ? I see they had stamped the 017 on separate (Aluminum?) plates near the infamous red horns ! Remove the horns and plates and you will see the original kirkham sn, 0469, which I am sure is still there, as if they had ground the sn off, there would be no reason to cover it.
I will check history in the Cobra registry and report back.

Only very basic info. Last sentence is telling:
"KMP469. Delivered 4/21/06. Coil spring chassis with 427 S/C body.
Purchased by Fritz Phillipps (GER)."

David,
I could tell from the first picture of the knock offs that the Kirkham was somewhat newer than my #318. Sometime in 05 or 06 Kirkham came up with the wedge inserted on the hub outside the spinner to hold the knock off on.
Previous ones were wired on.

Agree totally with what Motorhead said concerning false cover on shock tower, door hinges, etc.

Note in the one photo from the underside, it's written "427W". That's what I was referring to earlier in the thread. Looks like a stroked/bored 351W.

Larry: I missed that,so dug deeper. The size of the intake is the key to telling the 302 from the 351W. I see that it has an Edelbrock Victor Air Gap, which is available for either engine. The only difference I could see on the pics in Summitts catalog was the temp sensor boss on the 302 is in line with the manifold bolt holes, whereas the 351 temp boss is offset towards the center . So it does appear that it is a 351W based engine. Actual displacement and power is nebulous. There is a way to test the actual volume of a cylinder, but I don't remember what it is. Or, just put it on a dyno.

I didn't know you could tell by the temp sensor! Good to know. I always look at the block above the timing chain cover. On the 351w, it's about 1" to 1.5" higher.

"427W"... Looks like the engine builder noted the displacement on the block.

As far as the car it is primarily Kirkham.
So 0469 is from 2006, but you have a non-correct looking title that says the car was titled in California in 1996, 10 years before it was manufactured. I bet Rick is right that the California title is fake.

The engine/tranny must have been done in the US, maybe by the "Affordable VIP Cars" outfit that Davide has unearthed, and they were the ones who got the CA title, then shipped it to Mr Phillipps in Germany, but why bother with a US reg if its being shipped out of the contry ?
And that engine still doesn't look right to me. If it's 500+ hp, it would have a high lift cam which would require tall valve covers. The ones on this engine look stock height to me. One way to be sure: Davide, can you measure the distance between 2 intake bolt heads from one side to the other ? Looks like you can fit a measure under the carb.

The manifold looks like an Edelbrock Victor Jr. 351W, p/n 2981. So, it's a 351W block, but displacement could be quite different depending on how it was built. As to the 427W paint on the block, anybody with a paint stick could put that on there, just like the Shelby plate to cover the Kirkham #.

With the issue date showing 1996, it's pretty obvious that it does not belong top this car.
