601 HP HiTech Mod's
David (601 HP) and his wife dropped off his beautiful Red HiTech for some updates and upgrades.
We got stuck in with a few frame repairs, fill a few holes, new cowl tube support etc, that has been bugging David over the years.
Then I made up a new alloy dash panel, David will be responsible for all the switch and gauge holes.

next on the list was to replace the rear bulkhead, I made a new panel then added the cut out for the bump out. This was a big must have on the owners list of upgrades.

Nope, but I do have a genuine HiTech fiberglass dash if you need one. |

BTW, I have the fiberglass 427 master dash plug to make molds from HiTech.

Dave has one foot in the door regarding his desire for Mags.
Hopefully he wil get there.
I think his wheels on the car at this time look great. |

next I made the lower panels for the rear bulkhead, and the small covers for the control arm bolts.

Next up was to fab a new transmission cover, the interior is starting to take shape.

The next item the owner wanted was to move the batteries to behind the passenger seat.
David picked the Odyssey battery x 2, I must say I like the compact size of these, they are a little pricey.
I made the tray and hold down then we had to mount the cut off switch.
The switch is down out of the way but comes to hand easy.

The next job on the HiTech list was to make a new pedal box cover, I also made up some alloy holders for the foot box vent tubes.

What started out to be a simple upgrade on the front ball joints quickly turned into a challenge, upon reassembly of the front end all was going well until I checked the wheel for wheel bearing looseness. At first it felt like bad wheel bearings and after talking with the owner I guessed we had a problem (bearings had been replaced recently).
The front spindles had worn to the point that you could feel a lose wheel.
The hunt was on for early seventy's ford spindles, New ones please, yea right!
I got very lucky and found one on the east coast and one in the mid west, yep NOS! very lucky.
Made the necessary modifications needed to adapt to the HiTech then had them powder coated.
After install every thing felt as it should.

David decided to go with the powder coated finish on the inner alloy panels,
IMO they turned out great, carpet, cover inner rear wheel panels and dash, and install the seats and that should just about wrap this job up.
