Default Can I do this?
Due to interference between the gas fill tube and the Lemans gas filler, I want to modify my tank by lowering the fuel tank inlet plate as shown

Never mind. A better solution has been formulated that doesn't require cutting the tank

In answer to your original question... You can feed fuel into the tank at any level, but you must have a vent at the top of the tank to bleed air in or out as the fuel level changes.
