Rick parker --r.i.p.

I have been a member for many years, but not very active. I have a message to post about a member that has been quite active and has had a LOVE of Cobra's for many years. Rick Parker, passed away yesterday morning ( Nov. 15) of a heart related problem. I know that Rick loved Club Cobra and was always giving advice or seeking new info on the Cobra.

I have known Rick since high school and he was like a brother to me. In the 1970's I owned a 289 Cobra for a while and Rick had a 911 Porsche. We had great times as punk 22 year olds playing with cars. I attended the Reno Shelby event with him about 10 years ago and also the Laguna Seca Shelby meet about 3-4 years ago. Hundreds of real Cobra's. Rick was like a kid in a candy store. We had a great time. I have truly lost a very good friend. Club Cobra has also lost a great person in the Cobra community. Anyone that would like information can e-mail me at : cpmunschy@att.net

Please repost this to the proper Club Cobra section. I just wanted to get the word out to his friends.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wrote a tribute to Rick, detailing some of our hi-jinx over the years. If any one would like to read it "friend" me on facebook or send me your e-mail address and I will send it to you. We had a lot of great times...Rick was quite a guy, and great friend. He loved the people associated with Club Cobra.....

Oh my God. I just was watching his posts this past week!
I am deeply sorry to hear the news and will always remember his great influence on this site.
He and his family will be in my prayers tonight.
God Bless him.

I can't believe it. What a shock.
I'll truly miss his presence here.
He was such a valuable contributor on this forum. If that's any indication of what Rick was like elsewhere, and I'm sure it is, then the world lost another good one.
Always selflessly helping others.

RIP, pal.

Craig...the thread is fine right here and thanks for letting me know this morning.

I'm extremely sad about this...Rick was truly one of the really good guys on this site. He helped folks whenever he could and welcomed newbies as if they were old friends. I don't recall anyone ever having a bad thing to say about Rick, nor could they.

Behind all that, he was just a damn good guy...whether just emailing or being at the different events...like Craig said, the Reno and Laguna Seca events come to mind.

Really going to miss you buddy.

What a shock ! He always helped me (and others) in our weber tuning efforts and any other problems that were posted here.
On my drive today, he will be in my thoughts and prayers.
You never know which drive will be your last.

R.I.P. Rick

I am floored.

I just can't believe it.

I'm numb, my last email from Rick was only three days ago, and now he's gone. It's hard to get my head around that fact. With his wealth of knowledge, that he was always willing to share, he will be sorely missed.
The Cobra community has truly lost a good friend. Rest in peace, buddy.

When I was building my car last fall and winter I asked a lot of questions here on the forum and Rick responded to a number of them with helpful and thoughtful information. Rest in peace Rick...

Wow, we're all at a loss. How sad. I too was having PM exchanges with Rick within the last couple of weeks, Weber conversations no less. My condolences to his family and close friends, he will definitely be missed.

Sincerest regards,
Earl J Castillo

Rick helped me with numerous questions before, during and after my build. Did not matter if you had just joined CC or been a founding member, he was always there for one and all with a wealth of information and invaluable suggestions. Sincerest condolences to Rick’s family and friends.

My gosh, that's heartbreaking. This is reduntant, but he was just a wonderful man. He helped me with a number of things as he most graciously did with others. He will be sorely missed.
Rest in Peace brother Rick!

I'm also saddened to hear of Ricks passing. He was certainly one of my favorites... and it won't be the same around here without him. Rick helped me out too and I'm proud to have a pair of valve covers he crafted as well as to have something to remember him by.

Goodbye and Godspeed to you buddy. I'm really going to miss you.

venum14 11-16-2014 01:14 PM

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rick and his family. I will miss Rick and his numerous caravans we participated in...

Hopefully, his son will carry on with the "289 Cobra" as Rick was gathering the pieces for a new engine. RIP gearhead friend!
