I like that too, snap-crackle-pop of the engine. I don't know how much of that is on account of short and small dia. exhaust, but probably some.

The popcorn popper sound is from a big cam and a high compression ratio.

The engine also went through rod bearings rapidly. We replaced them after every 1.5 hours running. (This was from oil analysis results. Never showed copper but real close.)

I've been thinking of a bigger cam, might do that for next summer. I really like the sound, will probably cut unto my drivability and performance though,
