Default Hood catch

Im trying to figure out what the hood square rods that come from the hood latch with tee handles attach to.I understand that I need the wedges at end of rod
But is there some kind of catch or striker that accepts the wedges ?
All I have is a approx 1/2 " hole that lines up perfectly with the rods from hood latch.Any help would be appreciated

On an original, there is a metal catch attached to the tube frame around the hood opening.
I have no idea how Butler does it but it might give you some ideas.
