Default Can this be reworked?

Or is it part of the scrap pile? Get a new one fabricated?

The hoop is 15-1/4" center to center but the chassis mounts are 14-1/2.

Holes have already been drilled in the body

The mounts can't be moved. Would be cheaper to get a new hoop

Just for the heck of it, I used my floor jack to open up the hoop

I let it stay like this for an hour, then removed it. It then measured a perfect 15-1/2" center to center

Fits like a glove

You said the mounts were 14 1/2" and the hoop was 15 1/4". How is widening the hoop making it fit?? I'm confused...

Loops. Reversed. Mounts are 15-1/4 and roll bar 14-1/2. Thanks for catching my error

Good job Bill and it saved a lot of work and getting new parts.

I thought so too but have no idea how tall it should be. Any suggestion?

For functionality, it should be higher than your helmet when seated in the car. For esthetics, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Same level with the windshield.

As far the comparison of esthetics and functionality goes, here is a picture of an FF5 tall roll bar versus the level with windshield version. Very clearly to see that 3 inches make no difference when the car is upside down.

If you plan on tracking it ever, some rules say 2" above your head with helmet on, measured from a stick placed from top of roll bar to top of windshield. Even if you plan on "driver education" track time , this will probably be a requirement, depending on track and event directing enity. Probably more of these cars have been rolled on the street than on the track. Ya just can't be too careful when building and driving an over powered short wheelbase car !!!!

That video is a good example of why you should have wrist straps on track as well.

Looks like the mounting stub is plenty long enough if you're using it there.

Default Seat belts

Also notice the passenger belts whipping all over, during the roll over. I keep my passenger belts clipped at all times.
