Starts reasonably well. Does not overheat in traffic. Doesn't load up at idle.

In that case, absolutely.....you can roll with 700-750 hp and not have any of those.

I see solid rollers are being used what is the upkeep on that? Have to set lash now and then?

If you buy good parts, check lash every 2-3 oil changes, and have the lifters inspected after 20-25k miles. |

While we are trading information. What is the approx. weight difference between an aluminum block fe and cast?
That takes a fe engine from 500 to 650hp
Will they run on pump gas
I realize I am talking generalizations, I hope you can bare with me?

About 175 lbs between a new Pond aluminum block and a new Pond cast iron block.
The heads/cam/intake bump the power up.

I have not looked into high performance motors in a while. Like 25 years but this is a bit of a change 650 hp with pump gas that is drivable.

They are press fit, and fire ring of head gasket seals at top.

Bill, even at two thirds that number, in a Cobra, your tires just break loose and you spin, spin, spin. You can't hit WOT in the high torque/HP range of your revs, while you're on the street, for more than a second or two at most -- unless that "street" is an interstate highway away from the city. Even then, you're a heartbeat away from wheel spin even when you're above interstate speed limits. Brent's a wonderful engine builder, but what's more is that he is unusually honest while still being heavily mixed up in this peculiar hobby (which is full of crooks, btw). But he still believes that he has to compete, with the paper numbers, against other well-known builders on this site. The truth is, though, he really doesn't....  |
