Hmmm....
In reading a few threads, I'm coming to the conclusion that some Cobras have Chevy motors, and some attornies drive Cobras, but no attornies drive Cobras with Chevy motors.

I should have mentioned 390 FE. Likely forgot about it since it was never used in a production Cobra.

221's never made it.
By the time Shelby got an engine for CSX2000, it had a 260.

I think that would pretty much go without saying, but my guess would be out of all the Cobra replicas on the road these days, the ones being absolutely true to what they are replicating probably don't amount to more than 5-10%.

Thanks for pointing out my omissions as to the nitty gritty fine details. However, no matter how far we dig, parse, peel, slice, dice or expose to microscopic examination and evaluation will there ever be any trace of Chebby power in any Shelby Cobra.

The 221 may have been used for fitting, but it never made it in the car that was born in Moon's shop, or driven by the press, or displayed at car shows, or that ever dreaded thing called 'production'.

But, if it makes you feel better, I'll add the 221 to the list of engines I'd rather have than a Chevy.

I think you have to say the 221 was the engine that started the whole thing. It was the engine that made Shelby contact Ford and AC. It was the engine that was first shipped to England, the first fitted into and driven by AC , the first that made everyone think it was possible and fitted first into what became CSX2000, and yes the first to removed and upgraded by the 260. A lot of firsts enough that I think it should be included in the lineup of Shelby engines.

The more I read these responses the less they mean because of who they come from. Single minded at it's extreme, thankfully we have the freedom to pursue our own paths.

Why do we spend so much time trying to convince each other who's ways of thinking are correct. We are still talking replicars.

I really don't see where it's idiotic....

Political correctness has filled the US with a bunch of whiny babies...

And...

If you want a "kit car" that's one thing, but I agree that if you want a true replica of something, then it needs to replicate that object.

Who really gives an $hit about political correctness and Chevy-powered Cobras. Evan is not an idiot for expressing his views on replicas and Cobra buyers/builders can do what ever they want to their Cobras, because they have freedom of expression as well.
