It's good to know even the pros make errors occasionally

HA! That's all? You're doing just fine and actually living a charmed life if that's it.
I actually have accumulated a "Lessons Learned or Mistake pile" as I call it, of things that I messed up or just went wrong.
Some of them over the years literally made me want to cry when I would spend a couple of weeks on something, then in a matter of seconds it's ruined.
My wife remembers some of the big ones just because she could hear me out in the yard yelling at inanimate objects like trees, lawnmowers etc and walking in circles talking to myself!
It all builds character!

Bill, you'll fix it up fine and when it's covered you'll be the only one who knows what happened.
Well... except for us of course.

Remember to measure it with a micrometer, then mark it with a crayon, then cut it with an axe.
A perfectionist is someone who fixes all his stuff ups. I remember this gut who built a beautiful wooden catamaran with a epoxied wooden deck. he tells me he was going to rebuild the whole deck, because there was a 1 mm corrosion stain from a copper nail showing. I don't think he will ever use it, for the fear of scratching it. If someone else cant spot it, it doesn't matter.

Perfectionism is unobtainable and another definition of insanity. At some point, reason and the will to move forward must prevail or you are stuck running in an endless circle.
Not saying I ever support the "That's Good Enough" mindset, but the "I Have Done the Best I Can do" one, because that's all any of us can do.

The repair was a success. I re drilled the holes and sanded the face smooth. Next I will get some contact cement and marine black vinyl fabric to cover the front with.
Whew!!
