Here are two more CSX 1000 cars (Photo taken in Feb. of 2006 at Shelby Vegas)
Not sure what numbers they are?? But based on the date of the photo they must be one of the first 13 Early AC 1000 cars. The finished car is Brushed Aluminum. Anyone know what number the Brushed 1000 car is? I think it is the only one with that finish. Attachment 24947 |

The color on #03 is a Dark Blue Metallic. I don't know the color code. I am guessing it was picked by the owner. I also don't have any other photos.
Buzz. You asked what the 1000 cars sell or sold for. Csx 1001 sold for around 400K at auction back in 2011. Recently I have spoken to some of the owners of the first 13 CSX1000 cars that had body by AC and built by shelby in the living years. None of them are willing to sell today at 500K. (I asked) Back in 2004 I think finished cars were around 200+ but they took years to get once paid for. At the time no one knew Shelby would only get 13 done before the AC Shelby relationship soured. I think North Devon Metalcraft took over making the body for Shelby with a different shape rear wheel well (larger Lip) and some other slight differences. Here is photo of CSX1001 in its Red/White Paint with Carroll. Attachment 24948 |
Thanks again for the pictures and info. It will be interesting to keep an eye on these cars over time. They are evidently the blue-chip series of the modern day Cobras.

I just never get tired of looking at photos of Cobras.

I'm a little uninformed about the CSX 1000 cars. Are they primarily being built for export outside of England? I notice all the pictures above show left side-positioned steering column. Do they also fabricate cars for England and driving on the wrong side of the road? :)

The CSX1000 cars were intended to bring the craftsmanship of the originals back to the modern line. The cars were hand manufactured using the same tools as the original ACs (and supposedly by some of the same people, and with some chance some pieces of the original bucks although that is heavily disputed).
They are awesome looking in person in part I think because the paint jobs they get is also simply superb. Right hand drive is now an option on CSX cars. |
Here is another picture of csx 1003 with my car csx 4163. Both are factory approved full competition cars with Kroyer motors, solid engine mounts, full bracing, dry sumps, and road race transmissions ect. His is the only csx1000 car built to full comp factory specs out of 22 that were planned. Mine is number 7 of the 22, they only finished 13 of the 22. His csx 1003 is painted metallic blue according to the registry.

It appears that the body on my car resembles these 1000 series cars. The rear fenders are the same, fronts too ..........

I believe one of my neighbors owns one of the 1000 series Cobras. I just ordered a registry to educate myself for a possible future purchase. I tried to get in contact with him over the holidays because he is a collector. I tried to join about 2 weeks ago but some difficulties with the email so not sure if I can post a thread so I will ask here.
Is there one website or publication that gathers information and lists all original 1960's Cobras for sale? I see the various auction house listings and was wondering if there is one source that collects current for sale listings. I'll try to log on once a day to retrieve responses but I will thank you in advance for any helpful answers. Peter Brant |
